1 FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH Covington, TN February 15, 2018 A Bi-Monthly Publication NEW ORLEANS EVENING A GREAT SUCCESS! Great food, phenomenal music, beautiful décor and wonderful fellowship capped off the evening, Tuesday, February 13 th in the Christian Life Center. Thank you to Liz Newman for her decorating talents to transform the CLC into a New Orleans themed space of purple, green and gold. A big thanks to everyone who submitted a fun fact and to Andrew Davis for putting them all together. Our extraordinary chefs, Pastor Dan, Voncile Baxter, Donna Jones, Mike and Alice Morrison, Jim Reece, Tom Rogers, Caroline Turner and Barry Wright provided an exceptional menu of red beans and rice, crawfish boil, jambalaya, chicken, beignets and bread pudding. No one went home hungry! Jazz music was provided by Billy Adams on drums, Chris Croteau on saxophone, Mario Hayslett on piano, and Mo Hayslett on cajon. Lisa Harper from Jackson United Methodist sang and played acoustic guitar beautifully. Rounding out the evening was the children s parade with kazoos and slide whistles led by a highlyskilled drum majorette, Bonnie Wright. She was accompanied by Carole Mathis, Dustin Phelps and Keith Phelps all playing trombones to the tune of When the Saints Go Marching In. Thank you to everyone who provided entertainment, decorated, cooked and cleaned up. This was a wonderful event to bring in the Lenten season! (Pictures on page 4.) Pastoral Staff Rev.
