2 TOILETRIES FOR THE RONALD McDONALD HOUSE Literally hundreds of toiletry items from hotels have been donated already this summer to the Ronald Mc Donald House in Morgantown. Based on the wide assortment of shampoos, soaps, lotions, etc., the members of our congregation have taken some very interesting trips to distant shores as well as within our own shores. The Ronald McDonald House uses the toiletries to make hygiene kits which they then place in the rooms families use while their children are in the hospital. We have received many thinks for the items. They are also very, very appreciative of the Children s Health Pantry kits which are delivered on a regular basis, too. MS WALK The church family contributed $612 from our MS Walk on June 12. That money will be sent directly to The National MS Society for use in research. SHEPHERD S CORNER Thanks to our volunteers this month Kathy Dodson, Craig Liebig and Alison Deem. Karen Lang, who supervises the Shepherd s Corner, stated that they have already had as many food orders in the first six months of the year as they have had all last year. The majority of the food orders come in the last two weeks of the month. The USDA has approved a 30-year loan of $102,000 and a grant of $18,000, which meets the purchase price of the building, $120,000(appraised at $153,000. The property includes 4 lots and will allow expansion. A Building Fund has been established for designated donations (past and future). The June 30 balance was slightly over $16,000. THE CHILDREN S HEALTH PANTY BOOK SALE Books will be collected after August 1 so start saving your books if you haven t already done so. The book sale will be Friday, August 26 and Saturday August 27. The PW will again be offering a delicious lunch at a bargain price. Depending upon interest, we will be offering a basket or two of WVU articles as raffle prizes. The ability to offer these baskets will depend upon the generosity and interest of the congregation. We are looking for WVU items that you may have that haven t been used or tickets to a game, either that you know you won t be able to attend or just want to donate. We ll take items that have been specifically purchased for the baskets, also. If you are interested in participating, please let Betty Jo Jones, Barry Ranson, Nancy Atkinson or Alison Deem know. We will put out a collection bin if we gage there is enough interest. HATS FOR SALE, VISORS, TOO! Anyone who didn t order a hat and wishes he or she did now has a second opportunity. A sign-up sheet will be on the bulletin board for purchase of hats or visors. The hats will be $10.00 each and the visors $8.00. In order to place an order for hats, we ll need at least one dozen but for visors there is no order requirement. Men s Breakfast For the August get-together, the Men s Breakfast Group will meet in the back room at Eat 'n' Park Restaurant at 7:00 AM on Wednesday, August 24, Come along and bring a friend.

Year to date receipts are $78,000 versus a budgeted amount of $68,000. This variance is the result of the booking in 2011 of prepaid giving that was received in When this is considered, the giving was $6,000 ahead of budgeted levels. Expenses for the month were unfavorable by $2.500 as compared with budget, while the year to date expenses were favorable by $2,000. The annual insurance payment in the amount of $3,100 was paid in June. Building Fund The balance on the note that resulted from the building improvement and expansion project is $34,300. The hope and intention of this retreat is to provide an opportunity for youth from several churches to experience other Presbyterian youth who are on a similar faith journey as they look forward to active church membership. This is designed for youth in grade 6 and above, along with an adult from their own congregation (pastor, elder or CLP) with whom they can continue the faith conversation. The cost per person will be $15. The basis of our time together will be the Professing Our Faith curriculum of our denomination.

6 THE CHILDREN S HEALTH PANTRY BOOK SALE Friday, August 26 and Saturday, August 27 Because of the success of last year s book sale, we are planning another one this year, the last weekend of August, 9:00-3:00 each day. Presbyterian Women will be selling hot dogs, drinks, chips, and baked goods, a popular feature last year; some folks who had lunch the first day returned the second day just for lunch. If you would like to be involved, there are several opportunities. Starting August 1, you may bring in books (sorry, no magazines or encyclopedias). All kinds of books, for any age, will be welcomed. A drop-off location will be designated later. On Sunday, August 21, through Wednesday, August 24, you may help with set-up in the Fellowship Hall. You may help also on sale days, August 26 and 27. There will be sign-up posters for all the jobs. For set-up: On Sunday, August 21, after church service, we will move and arrange tables and other furniture in the Fellowship Hall. On Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, August 22-24, from 9:00-12:00, we will sort and arrange books. Lunch will be provided on those three days. We think you ll enjoy being a part of this fundraiser for the Children s Health Pantry, a church ministry for at-risk children, age s birth-18, in Harrison County and nearby areas. If you have questions or want more information, please contact Betty Jo Jones, Alison Deem, Nancy Atkinson, or Barry Ranson. Also: *Baked Goods * *Hot Dogs * *Fair Trade Coffee* *WVU Basket Raffle* All proceeds will benefit The Children s Health Pantry BPC mission for children of North Central WV
