I am up and walking around and working towards a proper recovery. I am hoping that I can use my time off to help get a few of the winter activities planned out and ready. Letting this all be a reminder that I need to get better at asking for assistance. I ask this of each of you, Look towards your fellow KofC brothers and ask them for help when you need it the most. The Knights of Columbus are a strong brotherhood. As brothers, we are always willing to outstretch our hands for each other. Let the world see that of us. The more catholic men that see that, the more opportunities we have for membership growth. But our third name drawn was David Mullin and he was present and won $25! Thank You to: The Simon House balers for October. Special thanks to these guys who give of their time so willingly. The Highway Clean-Up Crew for their work on October 16 th : Howard Milburn, Larry Sindelar, Rick Wolpert and Jerry Krings, Catholic Christmas Cards. If you send out Christmas cards, why not buy from the Knight s. They will be on display at each business meeting and in the back of Church (middle of November). Each year, they are very beautiful and a have great message. You can also contact: Bob Voboril at his house, 1631 Behlen St. to look over his supply. Nocturnal Adoration--First Saturday Holy Hour Substitute Adorers Needed We are in our 56th year at St. Bonaventure Church for our First Saturday of each month Holy Hour from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. There are only 12 Brother Knights, adults and families keeping the hours. We need many more Knights to volunteer to attend one of the hours. Our Goal is to have at least two or more for each hour. Here is a list of members who are doing an hour with the number of months since January 1 st : 10:00 P.M. - Al Hanus (5), Bob Voboril (6) 11:00 P.M. - Don Mroczek (5), Karen Mroczek (3) 12:00 A.M. - Ray Johnson (6) 1:00 A.M. - Joe Kosch (6), Tom Laska (4) 2:00 A.M. - Larry Sindelar (5), Joe Kosch, (1) 3:00 A.M. - Brian Konecky (6), Gerry Engelbert (5), Dave Engelbert (2) 4:00 A.M. - Dennis Ritter (2), Jeff & Ethel Pekarek (4) 5:00 A.M. - Tom Williams (6) There are booklets that have prayers for each hour to follow. Other prayers maybe said to finish the hour. Why not come at any hour to pray with others. You will be blessed. Needed: Simon House Baler Organizer Brother Knight Larry Sindelar is planning to retire from his position as Council 938 organizer of our once a month baling of clothing at the Simon House. A new organizer is needed won t you consider stepping forward to take on this ministry? The job requires that you contact and recruit 2 Knights each month to bale at the Simon House for a couple of hours. A list of past volunteers is available to call. The baling work can be done during business hours on weekdays or on Saturday mornings and again just once a month. If you can be Council 938 s organizer, please contact Deputy Grand Knight, Tom Williams. Note: we have a brother Knight who has offered to bale once a month so all we need is another Knight to join him each month or 12 Knights to each take a month to complete the needed team of 2!

4 Hour of Prayer for Vocations On the last Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m., St. Bonaventure Church will host an Hour of Prayer for Vocations. Watch the Sunday bulletin for details. We are very blessed of having 5 priests and 3 seminarians in Columbus. Praying is one way to encourage more individuals to consider religious vocations. --Bob Voboril, Church Director KC Business Meeting Minutes October 2, Knights in attendance including District Deputy, Ron Faltys. We received thank you s from the families of Bill Soulliere and Jolene Svehla and also from Birthright of Columbus. A list of members who are late on their dues was passed around and Knights were urged to make contacts off the list. A sign-up for tootsie roll volunteer shifts was passed around. St. Bon s is in need of new adorers for the 12 am to 6 am shifts. Christmas cards will continue to be sold at meetings and after Masses The 4 th Degree will have a business meeting/social at Howells and an exemplification will be held soon candidates only need to have a dark suite. Business for the Columbian Club has seen an uptick. The hall s outside walls have been painted and there are new fixtures in the bathrooms. The old shed and grills have been removed. We need someone to build a gate for the outside materials will be provided! The Village board approved to sponsor the $15,000 repair of one of the St. Bon s stained glass windows after the work is completed. They will pay the company directly. It was discussed whether we should bring back eggs to the menu for our breakfast fundraisers. It was also discussed that we have a very poor volunteer turnout for the last breakfast We have 11 students advancing to regional soccer which Columbus will host on October 22. District Deputy Faltys suggested that the membership be surveyed to ask what projects they would volunteer for so the council had a list of people to contact for events. She was an uneducated Polish nun that wrote a diary (some 600 pages) of the revelations she was receiving about God's mercy. Divine Mercy is the heart of the Gospel. In fact, the whole story of God's Chosen People, Israel, shows how the Lord taught them more and more of His faithfulness to them. What then is the meaning of Divine Mercy? Divine Mercy is compassionate love. God's love. God Speaking to St. Faustina" I am Love and Mercy itself "

Lector Myrle s Pearls: Beggars can t be choosers unless we help them Agenda Items for November 6 Business Meeting Children s Christmas Party Christmas Party and Awards Banquet Tootsie Roll Weekend Oct Report Raffle Funeral Mass Honor Guard If you attend a funeral Mass for a Brother Knight, you are encouraged to participate in the KC honor guard. Knights will usually gather in the church entrance prior to the Mass and pin on the honor guard ribbons to their coats. The honor guard processes together into the church before the family and is seated together behind the pews reserved for the pall bearers. At the conclusion of the Mass, the honor guard processes out of the church, before the family and casket are ushered out, and we stand at attention at the church entrance as the casket leaves the church. All Knights from any Council are welcome to stand honor guard. If the deceased is also a member of the Fourth Degree, a color corps of Fourth Degree Knights leads the KC honor guard. There are many decisions to make in choosing a plan benefit amounts and durations, a facility only plan or one that covers home health care, and the length of the waiting period before benefits kick-in are just a few of the items you ll need to consider.
