In State Deputy Jason Esteve s own voice - To me that is a profound statement. Someone reaching out to you and telling you that you are needed. To feel needed is to feel loved and that inspires us to want to help. And you are needed. The Church is out there. She suffers persecution and her members are discriminated against because of their religion. And you are needed. Tibi Necesitas Es. (You are needed) The Knights are the strong right arm of the church. Grand Knights, your councils should be the strong right arm of your parishes. Tibi Necesitas Es. (You are needed) Our communities are out there. There are people on the margins; homeless, hungry, abused, broken, alone. You are needed to go out and collect food for them, to give them coats for the harsh winters, to help them, to provide for them, we are centered in charity and so we should exude that charity. Tibi Necesitas Es. (You are needed) Our families are out there. We can not, we should not, we as knights WILL NOT abdicate our role as co-leaders in the spiritual leaders in our families. We should be strong spiritual men. We should be leading our families TO activities, not leaving our families for activities. Tibi Necesitas Es. (You are needed) The culture of life is out there. They stand in prayerful vigil for life in all its stages, from conception to natural death, and you are needed. Tibi Necesitas Es. (You are needed) If I could say it better I would have! 4 Page 4 MEMBER RECOGNITION Family of the Month July 2018 The Knights of Columbus, July 2018 Family of the Month, is the Jim and Linda Johnston family. Jim and Linda are to be recognized for their efforts in and around the community. Jim and Linda with their tireless support of the community s residents facing hardship due to cancer and other miserable diseases. Jim leading the Cancer and Rare Disease Support Group and his open heart and strong will to support those in crises has created both a name and a purpose for him in the Good Shepherd community. It is hard to imagine how we coped without Jim in our midst. He has educated each of us to the programs available and supported classes of one to 21, pouring his soul out to whomever would listen. With Linda at his side, Jim and Linda do the undone, providing a service not matched at Good Shepherd. Jim is the Council Health Director and Linda can also be found supporting the church as a Eucharistic Minister at the Saturday night mass. 10 Page 10 Our Draft Charity and General Budgets were presented at the Jul 2 Business Meeting. The Budget is based on the charitable contributions and general contributions received in 2017/2018. For the Charity Budget, the Council Officers and Directors have made a conscious effort to fund many reoccurring charities and focus our giving on the Faith in Action model of Faith (Church), Community, Family, and Life (Culture of Life). This is a working budget and will be reconciled throughout the Fraternal year to support real world issues which arise. I would hope each of you understand it and support it. The General Budget is specific money received and expenses generated annual that need to be addressed and funded outside of charitable gifts and dollars.. Thank you all and if you have specific concerns please voice those and support the budgets. Michael E.
