1 Knights of Columbus Incarnation Council #15332 May 2015 Page 1 A note from the Editor So I say to you, Ask and it will be given to you; search, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened for you. - Jesus Christ Phil Riordan, Editor phil@riordanhome.com He loves us without limit, and offers Himself to us in the Holy Sacrament of the Eucharist. Can we not give Jesus a few minutes of love and adoration in return? On the third Tuesday of each month, our Council participates in the Eucharistic Adoration at the Church Chapel. We are assigned the 5:30 to 6:00 pm time period. The Council s next Eucharistic Adoration will be on Tuesday, May 21st. Grand Knights Report May is an extremely important month to the Church and our Order. The Church dedicates the month of May to our Blessed Virgin Mary. In addition, as you know, the Knights are dedicated to her holy cause. The Blessed Virgin Mary is the Mother of the Church and offers us through her example the guidance and inspiration to serve God and our fellow humans, and to follow what the Holy Spirit directs of us. We should keep this in mind and always be open to receiving the call to serve. In May the Knights draw close to the end of our Fraternal Year and we progress our planning for the next year. In May we will hold our election of Officers for and we will continue the process of Service Program planning so that we can make the best use of all 365 days of each year. While we must not rest on our laurels, as each of us thinks about what we can do this month and next year to follow Mary s example and to take up Christ s cross, we can think about our efforts so far this past year to: News & Views Our Monthly Newsletter CALENDAR May 2015 May 03 May 10 May 12 May 13 May 19 May 21 May 24 May 26 Corporate Communion Mass(9:00 am) (C) MOTHERS DAY Officer s Meeting (6:00pm) CH Business Meeting (7:00pm) CH Memorial Mass (7:00 pm) (CL) Eucharistic Adoration (5:30 pm) (CL) First Degree Exemplification (7:00 pm) (St. Patrick Council #13307) Pancake Breakfast (8:00 11:00 am) (Parish Center) Social Meeting (7:00 pm) (CH) C=Church CL=Chapel CH=Church Hall PC=Parish Center BIRTHDAYS May 02 May 03 May 09 May 11 May 12 May 19 May 21 May 24 Frederick H. Together this past year the total revenue from all of these activities was about $90,000 which has been significant in providing food to kids, support to young mothers and their babies, assistance to those with special needs, and help to the Church and School to bring the message of Christ and the example of his Mother to Incarnation parishioners, students, and the larger Community that we all serve. Please keep up the good work and identify how you can be even more dedicated to Mary s holy cause this month and for the year to come. Charlie Culkin District Deputy #50 Field Agent Report Don't Assume You Can't Afford Disability Income Insurance One of the biggest mistakes you can make regarding disability insurance is to assume you can't afford it or you won't qualify. Before you make that assumption, do some basic research and apply for coverage through the Knights of Columbus. The Order s Income Armor product gives you options that can help you fit this critical protection into your risk management budget. Here are two ways you can reduce your premium: 1. Choose a two-year or five-year maximum benefit period. Depending on your age, the best option is probably a policy that pays benefits until you reach age 67. But a two-year or five-year duration benefit period would cover disabilities you might encounter in your working life. 2. Choose a longer elimination period. An elimination period is the number of days a total disability must exist before benefits begin to accrue. Typical elimination periods are 30, 90, or 180 days. Choosing a longer elimination period lowers the policy s premium. But be sure you have enough set aside in your contingency fund to account for the longer gap. As your professional insurance agent, risk management is my specialty. Let s talk about how to protect your income, your retirement needs, and your family's financial future. Jerry Hayes KofC Field Agent Jerry.hayes@kofc.org. 5 May 2015 Page 5 (continued) Hail Holy Queen Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of mercy, our life, our sweetness and our hope. To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve: to thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then, most gracious Advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us, and after this our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus. O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary! Amen. ONE MEMBER, PER COUNCIL, PER MONTH Membership growth is essential to the success of the Knights of Columbus. With the addition of each new member, the Order can better serve the Church, local communities and particularly those in need. But it isn t just the Order that benefits from a new member. Each new Knight benefits also. Since its beginnings the organization has promoted the principles of charity, unity, fraternity and patriotism. Knights contribute to the welfare of their parishes and communities, and seek to help the needy through financial and volunteer support. In addition to the fellowship and faith development that Knights enjoy through their affiliation, the Knights offer a top-rated and competitively priced insurance program for the security of member families. Please do your part as a member of Incarnation Council #15332 to recruit a new Knight.
