2 Holy Name Newsletter Generations Of Faith What is the Liturgy of the Hours? We will answer this question at the next Generations of Faith on February 7 at 10:15 AM or February 8 at 6 PM. Join as we break open the rich tradition of prayer in the church called the Liturgy of Hours. All in the parish are welcome! Thursday Faith Sharing If you are looking for someplace to talk to people about your faith, current events, movies, books and prayer come join us on Thursday mornings in the Faith Formation Office. All adults are welcome to join us. We will provide the coffee and snack. Did you know In 2015 Project Love -Handled 117,673 lbs of food -Served a total of 2,470 families -Totaling 8,434 people -Clients come from Cedar Lake, St. John, Crown Point, Lowell, Shelby, Sumava, Hebron, Schneider and Dyer Planning to Marry? The Diocese requires that couples planning to marry begin their preparation with the church at least six months in advance. Couples must contact Father Ed to begin All-Day Marriage Preparation sessions will be offered on January 31, 2016 in the parish. Couples may contact Jody and Dan Bohney to register for the session: djbohney@yahoo.com Year of Mercy-Saint of the Month St. Vincent De- Paul In his native France, Vincent constantly sought out the poor in desperate situations, whom he believed the Lord had called him to care for personally. For this, he is known as the saint of charity. Our St. Vincent DePaul organization is named for him. They model the life that Vincent lived in caring for those on the margins. The main purpose for which God has called us is to love our Lord Jesus Christ. If we depart even slightly from the thought that the poor are members of Jesus Christ, infallibly they will diminish the sweetness and charity within us. Special thanks to Mary Lanham and Carol Johnson who chaired the event and to all who donated funds, food, or their time in making this event the success it was. 5 Holy Name Newsletter Tamale Sale Fundraiser New Parishioners Jeffrey Fontaine Anthony & Nicole Schmelter Troy Welcome to our newest members, who were recently initiated into our community here at Holy Name by Baptism: Penelope Martinez, daughter of Christopher & Gina Martinez Matthew Ferry, son of Ryan & Dawn Ferry Maddox Moore, Logan Moore and Nolan Moore, sons of Robert & Stacey Moore Tamale Sale Fundraiser Sponsored by the Holy Name Hispanic Ministry Unidos in Christ (United in Christ) Chicken-Pork-Cheese Tamales will be available For $11 per dozen Orders will be taken after Mass on January Delivery will be Feb. 6-7 Volunteer Appreciation Dinner: On Saturday evening, many volunteers gathered at Great Oaks to celebrate another year of gratitude for our numerous blessing. 166 parishoners joined in on the fun which featured great food, dancing and fellowship. Winners of the "Must be Present Door Prizes" were Jean Palmer - Blackhawks jersey and Gretchen Newman - cash prize. A special thanks to Anita Torok, Shirley Manning, Mary Joan Dickson for making sure everything was in place so an enjoyable evening could be had by the attendees.
