Catholic Charities will receive all of the funds collected and direct them to agencies serving communities impacted by this recent disaster. If you would like to help, you can make a contribution online through Faith Direct at: VA713/ The Carolinas and parts of Southern Virginia have suffered billions of dollars in damage and more than 40 people have tragically lost their lives due to Florence. I encourage you to be generous in helping our brothers and sisters in the affected areas. 5TH SUNDAY ROSARY FOR VOCATIONS Please join the Knights of Columbus and our parish Rosary Society in praying the 5th Sunday Rosary for Vocations after the 5 p.m. Mass today, September 30. RESPECT LIFE SUNDAY & LIFE CHAIN Next Sunday, October 7, is Respect Life Sunday. The theme this year is "Every Life: Cherished, Chosen, Sent." St. Mary parishioners will participate in the annual National Life Chain that day, to pray the rosary together, from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Our assigned location is again near Key Middle School at 6402 Franconia Road. Please consider participating in this important witness for the sanctity of all human life. All parishioners, especially children, and members of the Alexandria community are invited to bring their pets for a special blessing!!! FOR MOTHERS WHO HAVE LOST AN UNBORN CHILD A Mom s Peace Day of Reflection: Journey of Hope with Mary, Queen of Peace, and St. Francis. For mothers who have suffered the loss of an unborn child. DIVINE MERCY CARE 2018 GALA The pro-life non-profit Divine Mercy Care (DMC) will host its annual gala on November 10 at 6 p.m. at the Hilton Washington Dulles Airport Hotel. The gala helps support DMC s mission to advance pro-life healthcare through programs that serve, inspire and unify. The Alexandria Tutoring Consortium (ATC) seeks volunteers from our parish to assist struggling readers at City of Alexandria elementary schools. ATC Tutors work with a kindergarten or first-grade student once or twice a week, 30- or 40- minutes per session, October through May, during the school day. Please place your gently used winter coats in the boxes at the back of the Basilica. A collection box is also located in the lobby of the school. Children s coats are particularly needed. The Knights will have the coats cleaned and distributed to those in need. Thank you for supporting this worthy effort.
