5 EPIPHANY CELEBRATION ON THE 12TH DAY OF CHRISTMAS! Jan. 6, 6 pm, Fellowship Hall: Epiphany will be observed this year on Friday, January 6, at 6:00 pm in the Fellowship Hall. We will gather together for dinner and worship at our tables, marking the arrival of the Magi. Readings, carols, and a meditation from Marcus McFaul will be included in this time of fellowship and fun. A rousing rendition of The Twelve Days of Christmas will be featured invite friends! ATTENTION ALL WHO BELIEVE IN SCIENCE AND ARE CONCERNED FOR GOD S CREATION! Earth Ministries is holding its first meeting of the New Year on Tuesday, January 10 at 7:00 in the Church Library. The purpose of the meeting will be to chart our activities for the Spring and Summer. Our special guest will be Neal and Nancy Cheek. The Cheeks were featured in the Winter issue of Afield, the publication of the NC Nature Conservancy. They will share information about their long-term volunteerism, followed by discussions of our priorities for Earth Ministry at Binkley. Come and bring your ideas and enthusiasm to help us live into our church covenant: to be conscientious caretakers of the Earth! Buck Horton and Charles Coble, Earth Ministries Co-chairs BINKLEY S ANGEL TREE Binkley s angel tree is the work of many hands. In 2015, the congregation s crafters and young people came together to create new ornaments for our Christmas tree. Their handiwork now adorns the beautiful, lighted Fraser fir in the Sanctuary. Take time before or after a service to look at the tree up close. Many of the ornaments are exquisite. Following the European tradition of natural, handcrafted Christmas tree ornaments, the unique pieces remind us of the beauty of God s world and the creative gifts with which he has endowed us. Special thanks to Claudia Templeton and her youth Sunday School class, Margie Billinger and her craft party group, and the families attending the 2015 Hanging of the Greens celebration, led by Caryl Fulcher and Linda Hill-Wise. We will be hearing about pilgrimages of body and soul that Binkley friends have taken, as well as others. Supper begins at 5:30 pm, with the program from 6:00-7:0 pm. $6 for ages 12 and up/$3 for children. THE EPIPHANY TREE OF WARMTH: The tree will be set up in the narthex through January 8. Please help us adorn it with cold weather clothing to be distributed to community members in need. Hats, scarves, gloves, and coats are needed. WELCOME TO BINKLEY-INQUIRER S CLASS Jan. 15, 22, 29, & Feb. 5, 9:30 am, Library: This class during the church school hour is designed for those who would like more information about the church who are considering formal church membership. KERYGMA BIBLE STUDY: THE GOSPEL OF MATTHEW: GOD WITH US Begins January 17, Lounge: With all we have to unite us, we still find ways to create division. It is an age-old question: do we focus on what sets us apart, or what holds us together? According to Matthew, it is Emmanuel, God with us. Led By Dr. McFaul.
