6 Love caused incarnation. Love brought You down to me. Paul Gerhardt Hymn Writer, This is time of year when we experience anew meaning of incarnation, God s gift of Love to our world. At a time when re is so much pain around us, God comes anew into our midst with a message of hope and encouragement we are not alone. Our gracious God is with us and for us both Emmanuel and Advocate. Here at Marble this incarnate love is lived out every day through our many ministries, both those visible to all and ors you might never see. 365 days a year lives are touched and changed by love of God working through everyday people involved in this ministry: homes are constructed through Habitat for Humanity; assistance is provided to our sister congregation in St. Thomas after devastating hurricanes; pastoral care is shared with people who need a listening ear and a caring heart; stranger is welcomed on Sunday morning by dedicated Ushers who live out Marble s vision of being a place for all people; children and youth learn about love of God through children, youth and family programs; people from around country and world hear Good News through work of MarbleVision and our Communications team, work that extends around globe; and re is so much more. We invite you to consider supporting our shared ministry through an above and beyond gift to Marble. This is a gift beyond your regular pledge, one specifically dedicated to helping us continue to share God s incarnate love. Please consider being generous with your gift this year; we rely upon faithful supporters like you to help us move into 2018 with strength and positivity. You can make your gift by using a Christmas Offering envelope in pews or at MarbleChurch.org/Give (click Donate Now ). In addition, you can text your gift to or contact Business Office directly, , ext Our goal this year is $45,000. Last year s goal was $40,000 and we surpassed that number! Please help us go above and beyond, that we may continue to share lifegiving, incarnate love of God through incredible community of Marble Collegiate Church. Thank you.

7 Litany Minister: Minister: During this litany, let us think of those things in our life that we wish to leave behind, and those things that we wish to hold in year ahead. As we come to end of an old year, it is a time to let go. It is a time to let go of things which have bound our hearts and held us back from power of love and healing. It is a time to give se things to God and to let go. But as we begin a new year, it is also a time to hold on. It is a time to take those good things from our past, our dreams and our best intentions, and offer m to future. Jesus reminded us that each one of us, by gift of God s grace, is a renewable resource. He invited us to experience new birth, holding on to good things and inviting new to come into our lives. In silence now, let us examine our own life and imagine that whatever has held us captive in past can be left here today. By power of God, just let go (A brief time of silence) I will let go of my pain. The past has wounded me and made me afraid of future. I have been hurt by those I loved and I have held onto those hurts. I have cherished habits which have hurt me and sought comfort in things which were empty. By love of God in Jesus Christ, I will let go. I will let go of my worry. So often I have held in my heart those things I could not change. I have wasted my precious energy thinking about what might happen instead of cherishing days and hours as a gift from God. I have squandered my talents and hidden my light. By love of God in Jesus Christ, I will let go. I will let go of my cynicism about world. I have hardened myself to needs of ors. I have assumed that justice and peace were someone else s problems and that as long as I was safe and secure, rest of humanity didn t really matter. I will let go of my attitude that sees ors as strangers. By power of God in Jesus Christ, I will let go. (Sung response by Choir) Minister: As old year passes, God give us strength to let go. As new year dawns, God give us strength to hold on. In silence now, let us count our blessings and remember things we cherish, good that is in us, and good things onto which we need to hold fast. (A brief time of silence) I will hold onto my dreams. From moment of my beginning, I was gifted with dreams. Often I have forgotten, but today I remember. I will cherish gifts God has given me and I will grow. I will hold on to vision of my best potential and remember that I am God s child. By power of God in Jesus Christ, I will hold on. I will hold onto my positive attitude. Life is too short not to smile and greet each new day as a gift from God. The hours I have wasted in past cannot touch wonder of present and promise of tomorrow. Because of God s love, I can trust and give future into God s hands. By power of God in Jesus Christ, I will hold on. I will hold onto vision of peace and justice Jesus gave me. I know I can t do everything, but as a child of God, I will find a way to live a life of caring. I will hold onto my faith and I will take courage because I know God is calling me to make a difference in this world. Every time I show love, I let my light shine and I invest in future. By power of God in Jesus Christ, I will hold on. (Sung response by Choir) Minister: As old year passes, God give us strength to hold on. As new year dawns, God give us strength to live our faith. Sisters and brors, you are people of God. Live your lives remembering who you are and Whose you are. Remember call you have to love. Thanks be to God.
