6 GIVING BACK This year s theme is Giving Back, one of our Marble Values. Giving Back is not about receiving, it s about our need to respond to God in thanksgiving for all that we ve received. In Worship on November 8, I asked you to fill out a Blessing Card detailing many of the blessings in your lives. The Love is Wall in the Marble Loft is now overflowing with those blessings. Every time you look at that wall, remember that these are God s pledge cards to you a pledge God makes to us and fulfills in our everyday lives. On November 22, we have a host of events to celebrate, one of which is Stewardship Sunday. I ask that in advance of that day, you begin to prayerfully consider what you want to Give Back to God. My hope for all of us is that we experience Stewardship Sunday as did the people of Botshabelo, South Africa happily dancing towards the altar of God with our offerings. No matter what you have in your wallet, no matter what you do with it or why your gifts will assist somebody with very real and often very urgent needs. It will heal them. It will help make them whole. I pray that when we learn in God s name how to give something back to this world, it makes us all want to dance! Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ s) about Giving When will we make our giving commitments for 2016? We will dedicate our pledges for 2016 in Worship on Sunday, November 22. The first Sunday in the new pledging year falls on January 3. What is a pledge? A pledge is a promise to give back financially to God through Marble throughout the year. It is not binding, but rather a conversation with God about what you can Give Back. As a way of saying this to God and to each other, we dedicate our promises on the cards in Worship. How do I make a pledge? Pledge cards arrive at your home via mail this week, however, cards also available in pew racks, at Marble Reception and at Welcome Table in the Marble Loft. You may also visit MarbleChurch.org (click on Give then Make Your Pledge ) or call Shana Wolfe in Business Office, , ext You can give as you go via offering envelopes or even set up a weekly recurring credit card or bank transfer gift. I ve pledged in the past. Do I need to do it again? If you pledged in the past, you will receive offering envelopes in the mail in early December. Even so, we hope you will also fill out a new pledge card so we know your intentions for this year, prayerfully considering if you might increase your gift of gratitude. What is our giving goal for 2016? Our goal for gifts this year from the Marble Community is $1.55 million. If everyone participates, we will have more than enough for the ministry that has been entrusted to Marble Church. Thank you for Giving Back. May you always continue dancing towards the altar of God with thanksgiving! Dr. Michael B. Brown, Senior Minister 1 West 29th Street, New York, NY MarbleChurch.org
