5 Scripture: Mark 8: Theme: Covenant Sunday Following worship you can find fresh, healthy fruits and vegetables from our Community Garden in the South Commons. Go ahead, take what you need and give a free-will donation. All proceeds go to Neighbors. Our goal is to make sure that everyone has access to fresh fruits and veggies. The church office will be closed tomorrow, September 7, in observance of Labor Day. All music rehearsals resume this coming Wednesday, September 9. In case you haven t noticed, music is a big part of who we are at FPC-SSP! We have several ways in which you can offer your musical talents: Festival Choir, Jubilation Ringers, Bells of Praise and Drumming Circle. Everyone is welcome to join, even if you haven t in the past. Check the church calendar for rehearsal times. Contact our music director, Linda Kachelmeier, if you have any questions. Sunday School starts for all ages on September 20. The Children s and Youth Ministry Committees are excited to begin a new year of education, music, fellowship and service for children from infancy through high school. Registration forms will be available on Covenant Sunday, September 13 or in the church office after that. We want to have a place for everyone so make sure to sign up! Hooray! You ve done it again. Neighbors was on the receiving end of 139 pairs of socks and 119 pairs of undies for children in need to start their fall with. Thank you for helping! During the worship service, we will reaffirm our baptismal vows to love and serve God as we work to build a world that reflects the peace, justice and compassion of God and share together in the joyful feast of the Lord s Supper. Following the service, the Board of Deacons invites you to grab a bowl of ice cream and create your own sundae. At tables throughout the Commons representing the multitude of committees, programs and ministries of our congregation, you will find not only an assortment of toppings, but hopefully a place where you can serve either within or beyond our walls or both. Our next date to pack meals at Feed My Starving Children in Eagan is Monday, September 14, 2:30 4:30 p.m. Come, add to the number of children being fed! Sign up at the kiosk and indicate if it s your first time or if you need a ride. Looking for a book study group to be involved in? We have several! Every Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. we have a book/bible study with Pastors Katie and Tom. Thursday mornings at 8:00 a.m. is the Men s Study Group, and one Saturday a month at 8:30 a.m. (typically the 2nd) the Book Group meets. If you have an infant who begins to cry during the service, feel free to go into the library with your child and continue to hear the service on the speaker. Please join us after the worship service for a time of fellowship in the Commons. Coffee, juice and treats are available for a minimal charge for members and at no cost for guests. Come and connect with old and new friends as we enjoy fellowship together.
