THE COLLOQUIUM MATTHEW PHILLIPS Ethics and Enterprise Sunday, May 29, 10:00am Matthew Phillips, Associate Dean, Professor in Practice in Business Law and Ethics, Wake Forest University School of Business. Ethics in the marketplace often feels abstract and ever-changing. A sense of professional identity, long cultivated among doctors, lawyers, and teachers, can be a way for people in business to connect their moral behaviors with the context of work and life. There are ideas and principles about how to form and live out this identity in the church, in literature, and in everyday experiences. 5

Litany All: Like a mighty Wind may Your Spirit blow across our lives. May we feel Your Spirit s breath upon us, moving us to love. Like a mighty Messenger may Your Spirit speak to us. May we hear Your voice through music and word, through whispers of grace and proclamations of joy. Like a mighty Comforter may Your Spirit touch us. May we sense Your nearness through lingering handclasps and caring embraces. Like a mighty Healer may Your Spirit restore us. May we feel Your cleansing power when we are forgiven, affirmed, included, or called to do what alone we could not do. Like a mighty Creator may Your Spirit inspire us. May we be surprised when Your light breaks through our shadows, when Your victory turns tears into smiles, when Your mercy turns anger into forgiveness. Come, Holy Spirit, breathe new life within us. Speak sacred love to us. Cleanse us with grace. Inspire us to love, to embrace, to forgive, to bless others, to be truly alive in You. By Your Spirit we are now bold to pray, using words Your Son has taught us, saying, The Lord s Prayer (use debts )
