6 We are getting closer and closer to Easter our time of Hallelujahs. Here at Marble, along with our friends near and far, we also continue to stand as a community behind the work that helps us to be the hands, feet, eyes and ears of Jesus in the world building bridges of hope to help alleviate human suffering and promote growth, empowerment and sustainability for the vulnerable. We also wanted to share with you what we think is an inspiring part of our Lenten journey. Over the past few weeks, the children in our church school have received piggy banks in which they have been saving for the Easter Offering. We hear from Jessica Scovel, Director of Children s Ministry, that they too are excited about being part of the work we are doing as a community to make a positive difference. As we get closer to Easter the children will be making an appearance during Worship to deliver their offerings. As a reminder, here s how the Easter Offering works: we take a special offering on Easter Sunday, though we encourage you to give anytime during Lent; this year s goal is $220,000 and 100% of your gifts (no overhead!) will be granted to nonprofits that are making a positive difference in the lives of many. Here are the ways in which you can give: Use an Easter Offering envelope found in the pews, the Marble Loft and at Reception Give online: MarbleChurch.org/Give/Easter-Offering (or download the Marble smartphone app!) Text any amount to (standard messaging rates apply) Swipe your credit card on our Giving Kiosk in the Loft Mail checks to Marble, attention: Easter Offering Call , ext. 248 to give over the phone or get information about making a matching gift. Notice for Congregants with Employer Matching Contribution Plans You can increase your contribution to the Easter Offering by requesting that your employer match your gift. How? Marble has established a new 501 3: Marble Community Outreach (MCO). MCO has a separate tax identification number and can accept gifts from corporations and other grant-making organizations that ordinarily would not fund a religious organization. Additional information is available via then search for Marble Community Outreach. Generally, there are two paths that the individual and employer match can take. 1) If you have a matching contribution plan, make your gift to the Easter offering by a check to Marble Community Outreach, and indicate that your employer will match your gift. Once we receive your check, we will send you the information you need to fill out your Corporation s form. 2) If you have a matching contribution plan and your employer sends your contribution and the match, ask that your gift and your employer s match go to Marble Community Outreach. The number needed for the gift, EIN: Indicate on your Easter Offering envelope the dollar amount of your gift and that this amount plus your employer s matching funds will be coming via a check from your employer. A Special Treat If you give to the Easter Offering at a specific level, we ask that you save the dates below for two receptions and hope that you will be able to join us for these: For Gifts of $1,500 or more Thursday, April 5 Reception at the Parsonage with Dr. and Mrs. Michael Brown a wonderful opportunity to share some final moments with the Browns who have hosted this reception for the past seven years. For Gifts of $250 or more Thursday, May 10 An Evening with Rev. and Mrs. Michael Bos a wonderful opportunity to get to know our new Senior Minister (as of April 23) and his wife, Tena. With heartfelt thanks to all who support Marble s Easter Offering with your gifts and prayers so that it may be a blessing to others. We could not do this work without you.
