3 Financial Report Year-to-Date as of April 30, 2017 This is financial report reflects income and expenses for the first 9 months of St. Mark s Church s fiscal year. The same information from April 2016 is provided for comparison. So far this year we have had to borrow $11,500 from the Contingency Fund. Income Church School Expenses Church School Parish Property Income minus Expenses Total Income Total Expenses , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , St. Mark s Spring Mission Emphasis was last weekend (May 6 & 7). Rev. Jim Rivett, a well known leader of the Southern Illinois District s Prison Ministry, was our guest speaker. We welcomed him back to St. Mark s and enjoyed his message on Saturday and Sunday. It is not too late to generously give toward the Southern Illinois District Prison Ministry program. Many souls who are incarcerated in prisons in Southern Illinois receive spiritual guidance through this program. We are privileged to show our support with financial assistance. Use the special Mission Envelope in your packet for a generous gift. St. Mark s Board of Stewardship St. Mark s Lutheran School Notes Our closing chapel service for the school year will be on Tuesday, May 16 with Pastor Kelly Bedard leading us. Offering for our final chapel service will be going to our Grant In Aid fund. There is no school on Monday, May 15 due to Teacher Institute day. The last day of the school year will be Tuesday, May 16th with closing chapel at our usual time of 8:25 am followed by field day and ending with 11:30 am dismissal. Report cards will be sent home with students that have all accounts paid in full. Remember ALL students are expected to attend Tuesday, May 16th! As stated earlier this will be our field day full of fun and games and the faculty has put a lot of time into planning this day! Eleven students will receive their 8th grade diplomas at graduation exercises on Wednesday, May 17th at 6:30 pm at St. Mark s Lutheran Church. The Class of 2017 who are scheduled to graduate are Claire Elizabeth Baue, Destiny Mariah Beckley, Elisha Rae Easton, Adison Cole Furman, Casey Noel Hassebrock, Tarik Lee Ogilvie, Callen Caroline Reitz, Dalton Michael Rieckenberg, Megan Alexa Schulte, Samantha Lynn Schulte and Adrienne Elyse Vallett. Their class colors are navy and silver. The Bible verse they have chosen is: Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity. 1 Timothy 4:12 Miss Suzanne Malawy will be the guest speaker. Congratulations to the Class of 2017! Yearbooks will again be available during registration for the school year. Look for registration date and time to be posted in the newspaper and sent in home mailings. 4 The annual Illinois Lutheran Championship Track and Field Meet for boys and girls will be held May 20th and 21st at Concordia University in River Forest. The meet begins with a parade of schools and participants at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. All field events take place on Saturday. All track(running) events have preliminaries on Saturday for the finals on Sunday, with the exception of the 1600M. The following athletes have qualified for the meet: Samantha Schulte (100 Hurdles, 200M), Adrienne Vallett (Discus), Eli Coop (Discus), Evan Reitz (110 Hurdles, 1600M), and Carter Wasson (110 Hurdles, 400M). Congratulations and best of luck to our track team! St. Mark s Sports Sat., May 20 & 21 Lutheran Sports Asso. State Concordia University, River Forest I would like to thank St. Mark s congregation, faculty, staff, and friends for thinking of me on my retirement from 45 years of teaching. The recognition during church and luncheon that followed was very nice. Thank you to St. Mark s Christian Board of Education for the beautiful mantle clock and to the faculty and staff for the laptop, printer, and case. Thanks also to everyone who brought or sent cards of appreciation, gift cards and/or monetary gifts. Most of all I would like to thank God for giving me the ability and talent to teach His children about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and His Saving Grace.
