This class, led by Barry Gadbois, is an in dep study on e book of Revelation. Meeting in classroom 121. The Big Picture is BACK! Too often we get lost in e individual verses and chapters of e Bible and we fail to understand e Bible's big picture, at ere's one story God's Word teaches us, and it's all about Jesus. Drop in on Pastor Mike's Bible class as we explore The Big Picture roughout e books of e Bible. No previous reading required. This week we'll be learning about Ecclesiastes! PAUL'S LUTHERAN SCHOOL CHRISTMAS PROGRAM Thursday, December 20 at 6:30 p.m. (School Site) Matching Fund Challenge We have an exciting opportunity for our school ministry! An anonymous church family is matching up to $5,000 given from now to e end of e year. The money is designated for Tuition Assistance. We have envelopes at e downtown narex and in e lobby at e school. They can also give online under e matching fund category. We have collected $2, so far. Thank you for your generous gifts which help our church and school. CHRISTMAS CAROLING Attention all Families and Adults Sunday, December 16 From 1:15-4:30 p.m. Where: Riverside Community Senior Living Facility (Butterfield Court & Westwood Oaks) & Miller Community Senior Living Facility. We will meet at 1:15 p.m. at Riverside Community Senior Living Facility (Butterfield Court and Westwood Oaks) and sing Christmas Carols to e residents. Please park in Riverside s Parking Lot adjacent to our former school. Then we will drive over to e Miller Community Senior Living Facility. 2 PLEASE JOIN US! The second Advent service and dinner is is Wednesday, December 12 in Fellowship Hall at e downtown church. The dinner will be served from 5:30-6:30 p.m. by e Stewardship Board prior to e 7:00 p.m. worship service. The meal for is week is Italian Beef sandwiches, pasta salad and chips. Coffee, lemonade and dessert will also be available. A freewill offering will be taken GIVING ENVELOPES The 2019 Envelopes are here. Saturday attendee s envelopes are in Fellowship Hall; Sunday attendee s envelopes are in e School Cafeteria. Call e Church Office if you do not find yours, we can get it to e correct location for you. Thank you for your support of St. Paul s ministries. MEN'S BIBLE BREAKFAST We meet again Saturday, December 15 at 7am in e Riverside Hospital Cafeteria. Come and get some breakfast, and join us as we study God s Word. I pray at you can join us for e study! Tables of Eight 2019 Have you ever said hello to someone at church on Sunday morning and ought They seem nice. I d like to get to know em better.? Well, now is your chance! St. Paul s Tables of Eight 2019 begins in January and so it is time to sign up for is fun social event! Four randomly grouped couples meet once a mon for four mons in each oers homes for dinner. This is a purely social event and a great way to get to know each oer better. The dates for is year s dinners are January 26, rd rd February 23, March 23 and April 27 (all Saturdays). You need to be able to host 8 adults for dinner. This event is for adults only, giving parents a night out on eir own. If you cannot host 8 people or cannot attend all four dinners, we always need substitutes and you are welcome to sign up on our alternate list. Sign ups will take place after services December 9 and 16. Stop by our table in e cafeteria during coffee hour or talk to Lynda after church on Saturdays to find out more about Tables of Eight and sign up for e fun! If you have any questions or are not able to sign up at church, contact Lynda Koeppen at lykoeppen@comcast.net or by rd December 23. OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD UPDATE I am pleased to report at 180 shoe boxes were delivered to e pick up location in Gibson City, Illinois a few days before Thanksgiving. Sufficient funds were received to ship all of e boxes! This means at 180 children and eir families will be touched by e Gospel! To God be e glory! In a few weeks we will know where our boxes were sent. The LWML ladies are very interested in continuing is project next year and we will be working on a few ideas to revitalize our efforts. Please stop by e LWML table on e ird Sunday of e mon and pick up a survey to complete. Thank you, everyone, for all at you do to support is project! SAVE THE DATE! The Sunday School Christmas program for Pre3-6 grade is approaching. The program will be Sunday, December 16 at 5:00 pm at e church in Kankakee. There is a practice at e downtown location on Saturday, December 15 from 9-11 am. All children are invited to join us as we celebrate e bir of Jesus! NEW MEMBERS RECEIVED AND RECEPTION Please join us December 16 during e 8:30 a.m. worship to welcome our new members and stay for fellowship following e service. Hope to see you ere! MANGER MAKERS DELIVER The Manger Makers will be delivering manger pieces to Sunday School children on December 9 and 16. Look for e table in e upper grade school hallway. 1) Pre 3's will receive e Holy Family consisting of Mary, Joseph, and Baby Jesus. 2) Pre 4's will receive an angel. 3) Kindergarten rough 7 graders will receive kneeling kings. 4) 8 graders will receive a stable, which should complete eir set. In e stable box is a list of all manger pieces e 8 graders should have to make up a completed set. If ey are missing any pieces, please call Linda Bohlmann at ( ). Page -3- Page -4-

3 ALTAR FLOWER CHART The Flower Chart for 2019 is up. The chart will be posted at e downtown church rough December and en will be moved out to e school site. If you would like to sponsor altar flowers in honor of or in memory of someone or some special occasion, please sign up on e chart for your desired weekend. When you sign up for flowers please include your phone number next to your name! Thank you! The cost is $25.00 for one vase or $50.00 for two. Please make checks payable to St. Paul s Lueran Church. Gourmet Coffee Hour is Sunday! On December 9 we will have Viers Coffee starting at 8:00am. We will be serving before 8:30 service and again between services from 9:45-11:00.
