We have tickets and pictures of the quilt available in the church office. WURSTMART CHAIRMAN NEEDED The Board of Stewardship is looking for a Chairman for our upcoming Wurstmart. Our Wurstmart and Country Store will be on Sunday, November 4. If you are willing to step forward and volunteer as Chairman, please call the church office at Keep the Country Store in mind as you can your fresh vegetables this summer. We will also need crafts to place in the Country Store at our Wurstmart this November. 4

5 ST. MARK S LUTHERAN SCHOOL NOTES Our chapel service on Wednesday, September 12 will be led by Helen Mayer. Our offering for the chapel service is designated for Unity Lutheran School, East St. Louis. Everyone is invited to attend our weekly chapel services that begin around 8:25 am at the church weather permitting. Put on your best smile and dress sharp! Fall pictures will be taken Monday, September 10. All students PK-8 will have their picture taken for the yearbook. Pre-K 3 parents will need to bring their child between 8:15am and 8:45am for their picture. After your Pre-K 3 child s picture is taken, they can then leave with you if they do not have class. Remember to send payment and picture form with your child if you wish to purchase pictures. Extra forms will be available in the school office. Baseball and Cross Country as well as class group pictures will be taken. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU HAVE YOUR UNIFORM WITH YOU FOR SPORTS PICTURES! The students at St. Marks are selling delicious candy bars! Each Cherrydale Farm box comes prepackaged with sixty $1.00 bars of peanut butter, milk chocolate, creamy caramel, milk chocolate with almonds, crispy rice and dark chocolate. The profit from the sales will go to the Athletic Department to help with the many expenses it has during the school year. Any questions contact Mrs. Delana Luebkemann. A big thank you to Chip Wasson and Wendell Taylor for donating their time and talents by taking the smart board from the old computer lab and installing it in Mr. Ramsey s classroom! Chip & Wendell never hesitated when asked to help with this project! We appreciate them taking time to do this so very much! God continues to bless St. Mark s with generous parents that give of their time! Thanks again! St. Mark s is hosting their annual Scholastic Book Fair now through Wednesday, September 12 from 7:30am-3:30 pm. Our 5

6 book fair is open to all families and friends. There are books for all ages and they make great gifts! Proceeds from the book fair are used to obtain books for each classroom. If you can help volunteer your time at the book fair please contact Ms. Kelsey Potter at (618) All parents in K-8 have received information about Parent/Teacher conferences scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 11 from 3-5pm and Thursday, Sept. 13 from 4-7pm. A reminder that there is no school for PreK-8th grade on Friday, September 14th. St. Mark s is excited to announce the purchase of 15 new tablets for a mobile computer lab. Thanks to the generosity of several families whose memorials were left to St. Mark s Lutheran School: Arlene Lampe, Millie Kahre, Paul Tegtmeyer, Shannon Hogrefe and Bruce Landmann. St. Mark s is excited about this up-to-date technology that it is able to provide for its students of all ages! This is only the beginning! Hopefully there will be additional tablets purchased in the very near future! Thanks be to God for His many blessings! Are your kids always wanting to use your laptop or computer? Are you tired of seeing all those game icons on your computer? Well St. Mark s has a solution for you! Since we have had the wonderful opportunity to purchase 15 new tablets for a mobile computer lab with an additional 15 on the way, we need to find the old computers a new home for reasonable price! You may purchase a tower with monitor and keyboard for only $25! The sets are a first come first serve basis. You may also purchase each item separately for $10. Also available are headphones for $3 each. We have 8 keyboards, 12 monitors, 13 towers, and 15 headphones. Call the school office ( ) if you are interested in purchasing one of these old computers! 6

Make an offer by calling the church office ( ). Wish List: Our school families count on Grant-In-Aid funds to help them pay for their tuition. In recent years our funds have decreased greatly. Prayerfully consider donating to this scholarship fund. This fund allows us to accept students who would normally not be able to attend our school. 8 COMMUNITY EVENTS The 1st Annual Cow Flop Golf will be Saturday, September 29, at Mueller Fencing (2852 Highway D, Perryville). Tee times will be 8 a.m. or 1 p.m. Sign up your team of four now! Slots will fill fast. The team fee is $300 and includes nine holes of golf, drinks, and a meal. Bring your own club (no tennis rackets or golf clubs). Additional prizes will be awarded for "Longest Drive", "Closest to the Hole", and "Most Unique Club". To sign up your team, please call Brad Mueller ( ), Mark Roth ( ), or Andrew Koenig ( ). A Washer Tournament will begin at 2 p.m. A pork steak and beef brisket dinner, with sides, will be served (free-will donation). Carry-outs will be available. Please RSVP for the meal to Linda Dreyer at Salem Lutheran Church ( or salemlutheran@hotmail.com). This event is hosted by Salem/Zion LYF (Salem Lutheran Church, Farrar and Zion Lutheran Church, Crosstown). Proceeds will be used by the LYF to attend the National Youth Gathering in 2019 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Thank you for supporting this fundraiser! Christ Our Savior Lutheran High School Popeye Picnic: If you are in Chester today for Popeye Picnic, stop by the Christ Our Savior stand for some delicious curly fries, ribeye sandwiches or pork burgers. Volleyball: On Monday, September 10, we will be playing at First Baptist O Fallon at 6 pm. On Thursday, September 14, we will be playing at St. Paul s Farmington, MO at 6 pm. COS T-shirts: This fall we are offering a purple heather t-shirt or a purple tie-dye t-shirt with a cross and It s still all about Jesus on the back for $12. You may also order a plain purple heather t- shirt with just Christ Our Savior s name on the upper left chest for $10. You may place your order by contacting the school by September 14. 9 ATTENTION CARDINAL TICKET HOLDERS! The St. Louis Cardinals are RED HOT and in contention for the play-offs. GO CARDS! ESPN will be broadcasting the Sunday, September 16, game and the starting time has changed to 7:05 p.m. (NOT 1:15) We are sorry for any inconvenience this causes, but the Cardinal game schedule states, Game times are subject to change. Please inform anyone who purchased tickets of this change from an afternoon game to a night game. St. Mark s has plenty of tickets left. We will sell them up to that weekend. WORSHIP SCHEDULE 6:00 p.m. 9:00 a.m. Accessible 10:00 a.m. on 2 nd Thursdays HOLY COMMUNION Holy Communion is celebrated every weekend, the first, third and fifth Sundays of the month at the 9:00 a.m. service and at the 6:00 p.m. Saturday evening service before the second and fourth Sundays of the month.
