Quilt Raffle We need help selling our Quilt Raffle tickets for this year. We have tickets and pictures of the quilt available in the church office. Purchase Your Cardinal Tickets Now If you are planning to purchase tickets for the Sunday, September 16, Cardinal Baseball Game, and still have not taken time to do so, the deadline is August 15 for ticket sales. The tickets are only $25, which includes a complimentary jumbo hotdog, soft drink, and a Mark McGwire Bobble Head. This is a great deal for tickets that are priced at $47. 5 Home-Made Ice Cream Social The Board of Evangelism is planning a Home-Made Ice Cream Social on August 11 immediately after the Saturday Church Service. This will take place in the Park directly in front of Church. All are welcome - an absolute free event. Bring a chair & have some fun enjoying freshly made ice-cream. Christ Our Savior Lutheran High School Annual Rummage Sale: Our annual rummage sale will be July 20 & 21 from 7:30-noon. Donations of clean, saleable items can be brought to school during business hours. Donations of clothing are especially wanted. Please call the office at before dropping off your donation or if you would like to help with the sale. It s not too late! 6 Summary Report for St. Mark s Float in the 4th of July Steeleville Parade 2018 The Float Committee would like to thank St. Mark s Congregation for their generous support of the Float through the $333 door offering. St. Mark s Float won 2 nd prize ($40 in the Steeleville Float contest (organizations). Cooper Wasson and Chris Zimmer 6 th grade students in Ms. Megan Bradley s class designed the winning float. They rode in the float distributing candy and other items. The St. Mark s float design, in agreement with the parade theme most memorable American TV show demonstrated the Christian show Highway to Heaven. The show was about an angel who was stripped of his wings and being on probation, sent to earth to help people in need. The float depicted a 1970 s console TV with the beginning scene for all 111 episodes being a highway leading to heaven. The following people walked behind the float to hand out candy, cozies, and evangelical brochures: Megan Bradley, Olin Edler, Bill & Linda Stegmann, Dale Rice, and Anna & Roger Zimmer. The cost for the float including candy, a sign recognizing the winning students, decorating supplies, and refreshments, was also partially funded this year by Thrivent Grants. The unused $283 of the door offering and the $40 second place prize (total $323) will be donated to St. Mark s organ fund. Special thanks go to: Carl, Trish, Jessica, & Jacob Handel, Olin Edler, Rose Bartens, Linda & Bill Stegmann, Donna Rice, Chip Wasson, Cooper Wasson, Shirley Kuhn, Christa Parker, Chris Zimmer, Carolyn Fritsche, Jeff Walten, Andrew & Alex Walton, and Cayton Cratch for helping to construct the float. Steve Smith for help in storing the float for next year. Ernie & Ruth Koch for the use of their garage for construction and temporary storage of the float. Wm. Nobbe Equipment (especially Ray Knop) for the use of a new John Deere tractor to pull the float. Ryan Bartens for driving the John Deere tractor and he also distributed candy.
