The first was the final day of the annual Tis The Season Christmas Bazaar at Holy Nativity. The next weekend was The Diocese of Idaho Convention, held in Burley this year. Attending from Holy Nativity were the following: Gladys Clymens, Sr. Warden; Phil Street, Jr. Warden; Elizabeth Young, Alternate Delegate and Paul Parish, Alternate Delegate. We had one empty delegate space, due to an unexpected development. The Convention DECEMBER 2015 volume 2 number 10 Church of the Holy Nativity, Meridian, Idaho was very rewarding and informative. In the near future, Phil and Gladys will be imparting to the Vestry, highlights of the convention. This last Sunday, Canon Lucinda held an ALL Parish Meeting. The subject was which Bible story do we feel best describes Holy Nativity. There were several suggested, and in the end the story of the Holy Nativity was chosen. This was a wonderful journey into who we believe we at Holy Nativity are. Thanks to Canon Lucinda and the Profile Committee for all the hard work they have put into this project so far. I believe we are nearing the end and that some great things are coming in the near future. Sunday was also Consecration Sunday. We received quite a few pledge cards, but are still missing a large number of those who have pledged in the past. If you have not turned your pledge card in, will you do so ASAP, as we need to put a Budget together for the coming year. For those of you who have already pledged, time and money, Thank You very much. We will be contacting you in the near future to get your talents to work for us. This weekend, a few ladies (myself included) are going to Jerome to the Monastery there for a knitting Retreat. Please pray for our safe travel. The Be Our Guest Meals provided a Thanksgiving Dinner to nearly sixty (60) people on November 11. Please remember to thank those that contribute their time and love to this amazing outreach. Advent is nearly upon us and then the Holidays. The Magettes, have a family for our Giving Tree and we will have the tree and the tags on it in the very near future. 2 PROFILE COMMITTEE By Jo Ann Myers The Profile Committee has been working for months on the profile document. We have had many meetings going over the document to hopefully be able to take it to the Vestry on December 2. I am so excited for the Parish to see this document. Carrie Magette has done a wonderful job putting everything together and Mary Buchanan has been helping with the layout. We have such talented people in our Parish. This last Sunday November 15 was our All-Parish meeting with the Profile Committee to find our Bible Story. What a wonderful turnout we had. The Bible Story is the last part we needed for our profile document. Each table was to come up with what they thought was our bible story The bible stories were Exodus, Noah, Abraham, Naomi, Ruth and The Christmas Story which was chosen by three tables. Then Canon Lucinda asked why we had chosen these stories. It was interesting to see that all the stories had similar content like courage, family, journey and faith. Then our next task as a Parish was to decided on one story. The Parish decided on The Christmas Story which we felt told our story and it fits with our Parish name of Holy Nativity. So, Parish, in the next couple of months you should be able to see all our hard work. We are excited to share this with the Parish and to see what wonderful things it brings to the Parish. I want to thank all the Profile Committee for their work and time they spent on this project.

3 Altar Flowers By Claire Barrett Thanks to everyone who has helped provide flowers or money for flowers for the altar this year. Poinsettias for Christmas: There will be a sign-up sheet in the gym to donate Poinsettias In Thanksgiving for or In Memory of loved ones to decorate the Altar at Christmas. 6 Tis The Season 2015 Holiday Bazaar The 9th Tis The Season Holiday Bazaar was held October 30 Nov 1 at Holy Nativity. Most vendors turned a profit, but the results were not as profitable as in years past. This was because of two things, the first being that the Meridian Middle School Bazaar was not on the same weekend this year and the second because of the Boise State Football game being at home in the afternoon. Unfortunately neither of these could be foretold before everything was already in the works. We will endeavor not to have this happen again in the future. Holy Nativity made $1,500 for the Building Fund, the Women s Group in the Kitchen made $369 and the Be Our Guest Booth made $460. Many thanks go out to the Women s Group for their management of the kitchen, all who contributed food for the kitchen and other things for the Be Our Guest booth, decorations and to those who made themselves available to help set up and clean up. We look forward to our 10th Anniversary next year. Pictures of some Holiday Bazaar tables. THE GIVING TREE CHRISTMAS FAMILY OUTREACH Above photo by Carrie Magette of 2014 Giving Tree. Our family this year consists of 3 children and 2 parents, recommended by the Counselor at Meridian Elementary School. Their needs will be listed on ornament tags hanging on the Christmas tree in the Narthex by Sunday 11/30. The tags on the tree will be numbered. There will be a log sheet next to the tree for you to write your name and phone number on the appropriate line next to the tag number. Please purchase or make the gift and return the wrapped gift to the church by Sunday, Dec. 20. Place it under the tree with the tag loosely attached to the gift. If you would like to take advantage of the great sales on the day after Thanksgiving to purchase any items from their wish list, please let me know. Some of the easy items to purchase at that time would be board games (11 yr. old girl and 7 yr. old boy), puzzles (9 yr. old girl), and Legos (7 yr. old boy). Both girls also like Monster High dolls and Barbie dolls. If you have any questions or would like to help with delivering the gifts, please call Carrie or Mike Magette at

7 VESTRY HIGHLIGHTS For October 2015 By Gladys Clymens It was agreed that the Parish pay for lodging for those attending convention. Some attendee offered to pay a portion of their bill to offset expenses, It was agreed that this would be okay. Matt Wheeler presented a plan for the Sikh people to use the Sunday School room once a month for services. Matt, Phil, Clay and Gladys will meet to discuss this further. Gladys presented an update on the progress of the Refinance with U.S. Bank in Mike s absence. Jon Anson is preparing a plan to submit to Vestry on a possible use of the Rectory for a Veteran s Counseling Center. Much discussion came forth on the subject. The Rectory Committee needs to meet again soon and discuss this and other options. The committee being, Clay Lisle, Gladys Clymens, Phil Street and Matt Wheeler. Cindy Wolfenbarger reported on the Vanco On-Line Giving. The link needs to be put on the web page soon. The Stewardship Packets have been distributed. Consecration Sunday will be Nov 15, when the pledges will be blessed. New Vestry Members are being sought for vacancies in We have a possible 3 vacancies some may decide to run again.
