Jesus says to you: Come to Me... and I will give you rest. As we come to Jesus in faith, He takes our burdens upon Himself and gives us rest for our souls. Yoked to Christ in our Baptism, our standing in the presence of God the Father is guaranteed because of Him. We gather together for worship today, knowing that as Jesus first comes to us with forgiveness and new life, we can then offer Him our prayers and praise. This is the Father s gracious will. May He bless us as we gather before Him! PRAYER BEFORE WORSHIP: Thank You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have not chosen to reveal Your truth to the wise and learned, but to those who become Your children. Through Your Word, may we come to know You and Your Son, Jesus Christ, who has taken away our wretchedness and given us eternal victory; through the same Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Once again, we welcome Pastor Walter Otten who is here having our worship services while Pastor and Margaret are still on their trip to Europe. We pray for safe travels for Pastor and Margaret as they return home this week. Pastoral Assistance For Pastoral Assistance or a pastoral emergency, please contact Rev. Jane s brother, Wilbert Schwentker passed away this past week. Wilbert lived in O Fallon, Mo. Visitation will be at Baue Funeral Home in St. Charles, Mo on Sunday, July 9 th and the funeral service will be at the Baue Funeral Home on Monday at 10:00 AM. The Officers of our Congregation are to meet on this coming Thursday, July 13 th at 7:00 PM to prepare for our Quarterly Voters Meeting which will be held on Monday, July 17 th at 7:30 PM. There will be a picnic and silent auction report. All members 18 and older are eligible to be voters. Please come!! 3

4 Vacation Bible School Information VBS will be held July 24 th thru July 28 th from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM. VBS is for children ages 3 through Grade 8. The theme for this year is Mighty Fortress In Jesus the Victory Is Won! Our mission projects for this year are Grace s Place in Washington, Otis Woodard s Lutheran Outreach of St. Louis and backpacks loaded with school supplies for area public schools. If anyone would like to donate toward the mission projects, we are accepting nonperishable food, hygiene supplies, and new school supplies (see the supply list in the July Newsletter). In order to remember our 2017 VBS, the children will be designing a T-shirt. Each child should bring a prewashed T- Shirt (without fabric softener) on Monday, July 24 th. There are flyers and registration forms on the table at the back of Church. Registration can also be done online at: The VBS Closing Program will be Friday, July 28 th at 7:00 PM. More VBS Information to keep in mind We are in need of angel cookie cutters for VBS. The nursery through 2 nd grade will be making cinnamon angel ornaments. If anyone has angel cookie cutters that you would allow us to use, please let Karen Sprick know. Thank you! On Sunday, July 23 rd, we will have a potluck lunch and then set up for Vacation Bible School. We d certainly appreciate your help! 4

5 There will be an opening for a craft person for VBS starting next year (2018). I will not be doing the job after this year.
