6 Human Concerns RED TAG COMING SOON As most of you know, one of the annual traditions of this parish is the Red Tag program through which St Barnabas provides gifts for disadvantaged children and youth. The members of this parish are overwhelmingly generous in helping make Christmas better for those who have very little. The program will run from right after Thanksgiving starting on November 23 when we put up the Red Tags through December 9 when we check in the gifts. Please consider taking one or more red tags. You will see that the gift suggestions are inexpensive and easy to find. Two other things...we know that posting the gift suggestions over a busy shopping weekend seems counterproductive but we do not want to take away from the joy of Thanksgiving by putting them up before that special day. However, if in your shopping, you see a game or toy that you would want to buy and donate to no one in specific, we would be happy to plug it in where needed. Just bring it in to the vestibule marked extra. AND there will be envelopes available for monetary donations if you are too busy to shop for gifts. We will do so for you for any tags not taken. Once again.-... thank you for your participation in this project. It is always humbling to see the response to this program. This parish is remarkable in members who do not take lightly their responsibility to reach out to others and who live the Christian spirit. If you have any questions about this, please call and ask for Nancy. YOU ARE MY NEIGHBOR EVENT : Saturday, December 8, 9 AM-6PM Sunday, December 9, 9AM-2PM FAIR TRADE HOLIDAY FESTIVAL As we enter this season of giving, let us remember that a gift can create new possibilities for those living in need. This Christmas, as we prepare for the coming of Christ, we can fulfill the hope of Christmas for our disadvantaged brothers and sisters by supporting the Fair Trade Holiday Festival. Ten Thousand Villages will have handmade artisan products including home décor items to holiday: beautiful knits, ornaments, scarves, jewelry, toys, linens, chocolate, wall hangings, musical instruments, global treasures, and more. When you purchase one of the beautiful fair trade gifts, you are standing in solidarity with the artisans who created them, and helping them to live and work in dignity. Young women and men have a brighter and better future. All purchases will help alleviate poverty through trade. Handmade artisan products provides ongoing employment for 20,000 makers employed by 90 artisan groups, workshops and cooperatives in 30 developing countries creating a sustainable income.
