2 The Associate s Mutterings MY FIRST ANNIVERSARY AT OUR PARISH Last weekend marked the first anniversary of me being at our parish. Last year at this time, I was a transitional Deacon who came on the weekends, and during the weekdays I was still finishing up my school work to become a priest in May My first year here has simply been great. I absolutely love being a priest and feel very blessed to start priesthood here at St. Barnabas. I've been very blessed to come to a parish who has welcomed me with open arms and desires for me to succeed in ministry. There are many highlights since I've been here. I would just like to mention a few. It has been a great joy to celebrate the Sacrament of all Sacraments the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. I love being able to celebrate the Sacrament of baptism and prepare couples for the sacrament of Holy matrimony. One of the saddest moments in people's lives is when someone close to them has passed away. Some of the saddest moments of priesthood so far has been the passing of Kevin Kennelly and Patrick McNamara. Even though those deaths were very sad and tragic, it was very moving to see our Catholic community of St. Barnabas come together and support one another as we prayed on their behalf and celebrated their lives. I am almost certain there is no way I will be able to forget those two sons of God. Some other great joys that come to mind, is my time as a spiritual director for men's CHRP, being blessed to pray with the school students on Monday mornings, going to a youth conference with youth ministry, being on liturgy committee, and reassuring people that with the sacrament of reconciliation God truly forgives sins and does not even remember sins that have been forgiven. These are just a few of the great joys and sad moments of the first year.. Please keep me in your prayers, as I keep you in my daily prayers. Let us pray together that our second year together will be as great and grace filled as the first one. With the Love of Christ, Fr. 4 Parish Life WORDS OUT! THE FABULICIOUS FRIDAY FISH FRY WAS A SMASH HIT! Thank you to every single person who volunteered, from the fry cooks to the cleaning crew, from the house crew to all the students, to the guys who were with us all day long. You made Friday night s fish fry a success. Thank you Fr. Malloy and the rectory folks for everything you do behind the scenes. And a very special thank you to all of you who joined us Friday. Here s the great news, we are doing it all over again on March 30 th! SAVE THE DATE! See you then. The St. Barnabas Men s Club CALLING ALL GIRL SCOUTS- PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE!!! The year 2012 marks the 100th birthday of Girl Scouting in the USA. Please join us as we celebrate in a Girl Scout Sunday liturgy on March 17, 2012, at the 4 p.m. Mass at St. Barnabas. Reception with birthday cake will be held afterward in the church hall. Full uniform is requested, but not required, alums can wear their pins/sash to share also.

5 Education Formation PARISH MISSION 2012 Our Parish mission is quickly approaching. Please mark the dates on your calendar and ask a neighbor to come with you. Father Tom McCarthy will preach at all the Masses on Saturday evening and Sunday, March 24 th and 25 th and lead us in prayerful reflection at 7:00pm on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday evenings. Anointing of the Sick/Communion If a member of your family is ill or homebound, please call Mrs. Marie Ruff in the rectory. Holy Orders Anyone interested in knowing more about formation for priestly or diaconate ministry is asked to call Fr. William Malloy in the rectory office. Infant Baptism Infants are baptized on the first and third Sundays of the month at 1:30 pm or at any regularly scheduled Sunday mass. First time parents are required to complete the Baptism Prep Class which are offered on the second Monday of every Month. Please contact Mrs. Marie Ruff in the rectory.
