December 8, 2016 Volume 10, Issue 26 Lighthouse Presbyterian Church PO Box E. 303rd Street Paola, KS Worship: Sunday 10:00am Christmas at Lighthouse Lighthouse Christmas Sunday, December 11th 6:00pm You and your family are invited to our Lighthouse Christmas - an all ages, musical celebration of Christ s Birth. This will be held on Sunday, December 11th at 6:00pm at the Lighthouse Church. This year s Lighthouse Christmas consists of children's music; Preschool will sings songs under the direction of Tammy Cole and Elementary ages will sing under the direction of Barbara Blachly. We will also have other joyful music of Christmas from our Praise Team and individual guests. Everyone is welcome. Please bring a guest. A full nursery will be provided. Light refreshments will follow. Saturday, December 24th 5:00pm Nursery will be provided. Christmas Day Worship Sunday, December 25 10:00am Come as you are. Let the kids come in their pajamas. Christmas morning breakfast will be at 9:00am. (No nursery will be provided)

2 THE LIGHTHOUSE BEACON Page 2 We re growing and need you! PACA Bell Ringing Please participate in sharing with others in our community with the annual ringing of the bell at Wal-Mart. Our church will have three dates this year to ring in the blessings for the holiday season and assist with Salvation Army s work in Miami County. Children s Church teachers and teacher assistants needed once a month during the 10:00am Sunday morning worship service. It was a huge success and wonderful way to start the Advent season. We had approximately 550 visitors. Pictures may be found at The PACA Bell Ringing is especially important this year, as the monthly budget for Salvation Army of Miami County has been cut in half. Approximately 88% of funds collected from the bell ringing is used for Miami County needs. The remaining 12% is used for crisis needs and administrative.

3 THE LIGHTHOUSE BEACON Page 3 CELEBRATE RECOVERY Celebrate Recovery is a support ministry for anyone who has hurts, habits and hang-ups and would like instruction, direction, fellowship and encouragement to overcome them through the power of Christ. Celebrate Recovery meets every Thursday evening: 6:30-8:30 pm in the worship area with a fellowship time beginning at 6:00 pm. Child care is provided. This Thursday, December 15th, we will enjoy a Christmas dinner at Celebrate Recovery. The dinner will be provided at no charge. We will begin eating around 6:10pm, followed by our regular program. We would like to thank the congregation for the various ways that so many contributed to the community Thanksgiving Day dinner. We served approximately 100 people here at the church and delivered 73 meals. The day was truly a blessing from God. Thank you for your support and your willingness to serve our community and our Lord! Adopt-A-Patient for Christmas The next Beacon newsletter will be published on Wednesday, December 21st. Deadline for all articles will be Friday, Dec. 16th. Thank you in advance for your help. Osawatomie State Hospital is launching its annual Adopt a Patient for Christmas program this month. They are reaching out to members of the community to help ensure that each patient is remembered during the holidays. Patients at the hospital really appreciate being remembered at Christmas. In order to make it possible to purchase presents for all the patients, they are requesting an $18 donation to their Christmas fund. The plan shows how the many stories of the Bible make up one interconnected story God s story. The plan calls for reading between one to three chapters of Scripture a day from three separate chapters (i.e. the main storyline and key cross references), six days per week.
