April 13, 2017 Volume 11, Issue 08 Lighthouse Presbyterian Church PO Box E. 303rd Street Paola, KS Worship: Sunday 10:00am Exciting Plans for Easter Worship Easter Sunday, April 16 Two Unique Worship Services Easter Sunrise Service 7:30am Fire Lake Camp Lone Star Road Traditional Easter Service 10:00am Lighthouse Church 1402 E 303rd St. Our first service will be a sunrise style service, 7:30am at Fire Lake Camp, Lone Star Road; Paola, Kansas. (See firelakecamp.com for pictures of site). All ages are invited. Plenty of parking and such a beautiful setting by the lake. We will have singing, acoustic music and simple worship. Bring a lawn chair and a blanket - or use one of the seats provided. (Becomes a Barn Easter if weather acts up.) Breakfast treats will be served. Our second service is 10:00am at the Lighthouse Church. All people and ages invited as well. Come join us for our traditional church service. Please consider: Inviting a friend, relative or co-worker Parking away from the building so guests can park close Sitting close to the front so guests can sit toward the back I expect a few of us will enjoy both services that day! 2 THE LIGHTHOUSE BEACON Page 2 CELEBRATE RECOVERY Celebrate Recovery is a support ministry for anyone who has hurts, habits and hang-ups and would like instruction, direction, fellowship and encouragement to overcome them through the power of Christ. Celebrate Recovery meets every Thursday evening: 6:30-8:30 pm in the worship area with a fellowship time beginning at 6:00 pm. Child care is provided. Lighthouse Job Positions Available Church Office Receptionist: The person who fills this part-time position will have general secretarial duties and needs to be proficient in dealing with people and with computers. The hours would be a week at $13.00 an hour. We are looking for someone who has a heart for the teens of Paola and who loves serving for the Lord. This is my blood, he said as he took the cup. Do this in remembrance of me. So we come together to remember our Lord and to have fellowship with him. May this be a meaningful and glorious time for us all as we commune together in worship and the pursuit of holiness. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. East Central Kansas Active Aging Expo Wednesday, May 3rd, 9:00am-4:00pm Lighthouse Church This conference, sponsored by K-State Research and Extension Office, will promote positive attitudes about aging and encourage individuals to be active physically, mentally and financially. The keynote speaker is Eric Crump, who will be speaking on Caring for the Caregiver. The information Mr. Crump shares will be informative and helpful for all ages. In addition, a variety of informational sessions that include Eating Healthy on a Budget, Eliminating Falls, Hearing Loss, Balance and Dizziness, 10 Warning Signs of Alzheimer's and more to choose from. You may attend all or part of the day. Participants can register for the session of their choice. Registration is $15 per person and the advance registration deadline is April 21st. The fee covers lunch, speaker fees and program materials. Late registration received April is $20. One gives most who gives with joy. The best way to show our gratitude to God and people is to accept everything with joy. A joyful heart is the inevitable result of a heart burning with love. Never let anything so fill you with sorrow as to make you forget the joy of the Christ risen. Mother Teresa Join a Relay for Life team Relay for Life is a team fundraising event where team members take turns walking around a track or designated path. The Miami County relay is six hours in length, from 6 p.m.-midnight June 9 at the Osawatomie Trojan track, and each team is asked to have a member on the track at all times to signify that cancer never sleeps. Cancer patients don't stop because they're tired, and for one night, neither do we. Relay for Life started 32 years ago as one man walking and running a track and has turned into a global event that has raised over $5 billion to help save lives throughout the world. BSF for Women When: Every Tuesday: Sept. 12, 2017 thru May 2018 Time: 6:30-8:30pm Where: Lighthouse Church No childcare available. ATTENTION WOMEN!! Bible Study Fellowship is an in-depth, interdenominational Bible class for people of all ages and backgrounds. We meet on Tuesday nights from 6:30-8:30pm in the sanctuary at Lighthouse Church. All women are welcome to register for our fall Bible Study Fellowship class; we plan to study the book of Romans. Our fall class will begin on Tuesday, September 12, The best date/time to sign up will be on Tuesday, May 9 at 6:30pm.
