This is a great time to invite your neighbors, friends and family! Even if you do not wish to swim, we invite you to come to fellowship. Everything is free; this year we will have cookies, drinks and snow cones for you to enjoy as well as water! We will be performing several baptisms during our pool party!

2 THE LIGHTHOUSE BEACON Page 2 CELEBRATE RECOVERY Celebrate Recovery is a support ministry for anyone who has hurts, habits and hang-ups and would like instruction, direction, fellowship and encouragement to overcome them through the power of Christ. Celebrate Recovery meets every Thursday evening: 6:30-8:30 pm in the worship area with a fellowship time beginning at 6:00 pm. Child care is provided. For more information, contact Bob Zoller at robertzoller@kw.com or Serving Our Students Saturday, July 22, :00am - 1:00pm Cottonwood Elementary S.O.S. is a community event designed to help students in need prepare for a successful school year. The event is open to all Unified School District #368 students who are in need of assistance and support. Resources will be provided to students and families attending the back to school event. (Assistance is available on a first come, first serve basis. Some quantities are limited. Items offered may be subject to change.) This is a wonderful time for volunteers from each of our churches to come together for this event on Saturday, July 22nd, 9:00am-1:00pm at Cottonwood School. An hour or two of volunteer time would be so appreciated. Areas to help with: Set up (8:00am) Trash pickup (during event) Serving in Booths (during event) Provide Cookies Serve Cookies Tear down/clean up If you are interested in volunteering for this event, please contact Courtney Napier at Shoe Boxes Needed The next Beacon newsletter will be published on Thursday, August 3rd. Deadline for all articles will be Friday, July 28th. Thank you in advance for your help. Children s Ministry would like 25 boxes/shoe boxes for the Children s Church lesson on July 30th. We will be making planetariums and would like to have enough boxes for every child to make their own. Please give your boxes to Ivy Poetter or leave them in any children s church classroom.

You will want to come on August 3rd to hear a report from our Women s Haiti Mission Team who will just have returned from their mission trip. We will also have fun with a summer melon theme! Women s Self Defense Training Date: Time: Location: Saturday, August 5th 10:00am-12:00pm Paola Middle School The Paola Police Department is proud to sponsor the seventh annual Women s Self Defense Class, instructed by the T.A.K.E. Foundation. A $10 donation is requested for the event, but is not required. All females above the age of 12 are invited to attend. PPD will sponsor those unable to donate.
