2 THE LIGHTHOUSE BEACON Page 2 CELEBRATE RECOVERY Celebrate Recovery is a support ministry for anyone who has hurts, habits and hang-ups and would like instruction, direction, fellowship and encouragement to overcome them through the power of Christ. Celebrate Recovery meets every Thursday evening: 6:30-8:30 pm in the worship area with a fellowship time beginning at 6:00 pm. Child care is provided. There will be a dinner on Thursday, October 19th, beginning at 6:00 pm. The meal will be provided at no charge. For more information, contact Bob Zoller at robertzoller@kw.com or Pastor Appreciation Session would like to invite the congregation to help us celebrate the milestones of both of our Pastors. We will have a special celebration after church on October 29, Please plan to stay after worship to celebrate with us. We will have baskets available for those that wish to drop in cards with their notes of appreciation. We are looking for pictures with Pastor Kirk or Pastor Brad in them prior to Perhaps you have a picture of one of them officiating a wedding or baptizing a family member. It is easiest if we can get them in a digital version, but if all you have is an actual picture, you may drop by the Church Office, where we can scan into our computer and give it right back to you. In order to have our slideshow ready in time, please have all pictures in to the office no later than Thursday, October 26th. If you can send them via , please send to: tracey@paolalighthouse.com. Men of Lighthouse Church: Are You Interested in Our Ministry to Haiti: Lighthouse Water Project? Join us following worship on Sunday, October 15th as we plan for our February 2018 trip to Haiti. Lunch will be provided. No child care. Leadership Night Monday, Nov. 6 7:00-7:30pm Pastor Bill Hybels says: When a leader gets better, everybody wins. If you lead anyone or anything in our church or community and would like to get better as a leader, consider coming to Leadership Night. You will hear from quality leaders such as Bishop TD Jakes, Pastor John Maxwell, Liz Weizman and former CEO Jack Welch who will speak on topics such as Work- Life Balance, Servant Leadership and Mental Toughness. We will watch a high-impact video for 10 minutes, then follow up with a discussion that will sharpen and strengthen your leadership skills. We plan to meet in the Harbor. Questions? Please be patient with us as we are figuring out the best and most efficient way to welcome our current members and our guests! The current Welcome Table has been moved so look for it on the south wall when you come in this Sunday. Please stop by and pick up your name tag. Monday, October 23rd 7:00pm We would love for you to join us to pray for the needs of our church, nation, and the body of Christ! We meet from 5-5:30 pm every Monday, except the 4 th Monday of the month. On that day, we meet at 7:00pm for Healing Prayer and Worship Service. In His Love, Cindy Walters Online Giving is Now Available It is now official; we are offering online giving as well as text giving. Online Giving: To set up your online giving, go to the church website at and look to upper right-hand corner of the screen. Click on the Give Online icon (blue circle with dollar sign) which will take you to the setup screen. You can either register for future access or you can do Quick Give that requires no login. Text Giving: To donate, text your donation amount to To give, enter the amount you want to give, such as 100. You can also give to a specific fund by typing it after your amount, such as 100 building fund. Please be sure to select which fund you are giving to. If no fund is specified, your gift will automatically go toward General Operating Fund. We currently have four funds that people give to throughout the year: General Operating Fund Building Fund Pastor s Discretionary Haiti Missions

4 THE LIGHTHOUSE BEACON Page 4 Basic Self-Defense Class *A beginners class open to everyone ages 11 and abovelimited to 20 students Taught by Tammy Dowd (a 3rd Degree Black Belt in Shorin Ryu Karate ) When: Saturday, November 4th from 10:00-11:30 Where: Paola Lighthouse Harbor The class will cover: Young Adult Bible Study Situational Awareness Identify and avoid potentially dangerous situations. Defending Yourself How do you plan to respond? Striking Practice proper striking techniques. Self Defense - Skills and techniques best to use. Wednesdays (Beginning October 18th) 8:15 9:30pm Lighthouse Church will offer a new Bible Study for young adults those between the ages of Sean Sutton will lead this study on godly character development. This is a great opportunity for young adults in our church and community to build friendships and grow in the knowledge of Jesus Christ. We hope that you will come!
