We hope you will join us in the excitement! This event is for all ages, couples/singles. Beef stroganoff will again be the highlight of our meal. (We thank Uli Poetter for sharing her talent of this dish). Cost is $6 per person with the maximum of $20.00 per family. The fun begins after dinner -- with a special entertainment act -- a magician! Brad Lynn, a KC North Police Officer for 16 years and member of Antioch Baptist Church will delight "kids" of all ages. Mr. Lynn shares his talents and delights audiences through libraries, churches, scouting events and festivals. You may sign up at a special registration table. Checks may be made payable to Lighthouse Church with the memo stating "Valentine Dinner". Ash Wednesday Service February 7:00pm Lighthouse Church Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent a 40 day period of preparation and spiritual discernment prior to Easter. At this simple and brief service of worship, we will sing, pray, hear the Word and offer ashes as a sign of repentance and commitment. Participants will find this a very meaningful way to prepare and focus their minds and hearts to follow Jesus as we approach Easter. 2 THE LIGHTHOUSE BEACON Page 2 CELEBRATE RECOVERY Celebrate Recovery is a support ministry for anyone who has hurts, habits and hang-ups and would like instruction, direction, fellowship and encouragement to overcome them through the power of Christ. Celebrate Recovery meets every Thursday evening: 6:30-8:30 pm in the worship area with a fellowship time beginning at 6:00 pm. Child care is provided. There will be a dinner on Thursday, February 15th, beginning at 6:00 pm. The meal will be provided at no charge. For more information, contact Bob Zoller at robertzoller@kw.com or Family Mission Trip Wind River Reservation, WY Informational Meeting Sunday, February 18th at 11:30 am Lunch and childcare available Please help us with planning by signing up at the Welcome Table in the sanctuary Trip Details When: June 22-July 1, 2018 Where: Wind River Reservation, Wyoming Who: Anyone age 7 or older What we will be doing: The Native Americans have often been called the forsaken and forgotten people. Yet God has not forgotten them. We will help them learn about Christ while doing a building project and running a small kids day camp. We have flexibility to make this trip unique. Cost: $400 a person plus transportation and lodging during travel to and from Wyoming. The cost covers food, lodging, building supplies and food supplies for the kids camp. Suicide is 2.5 times higher than the national rate. 95% of women and girls and 70% of boys have experienced sexual abuse. 85% are unemployed. 50% of youth drop out of school. All proceeds will go toward our Haiti well repair program. Menu will include: scrambled eggs, link sausage, hash browns, biscuits/gravy, cinnamon roll, coffee and orange juice. Kingdom Kids will be excused by 6:30pm, February 14th due to Ash Wednesday Services Our goal is 120 kits total! at 7pm Kingdom Kids and Youth Care Kits Mission Project Parents are welcome to join in! Lotion Toothbrushes Floss Tubes of toothpaste (4-6 oz preferred) Individually wrapped bar of soap Deodorant Nail File Zipper-sealed sandwich bags (used by recipient for soap) Two gallon resealable plastic bags Adhesive bandages You may leave items in the church office or on the Welcome Table. Isaiah 58:6 & 10 Harvesters Local Mission Trip Saturday, February 10th 2:00 4:00 pm My Father s House Community Services Special Need Request My Father s House is a transitional housing shelter in Paola, Kansas that serves women and families who are homeless in Miami & Linn Counties. In 2017, MFH served 21 families and 18 individual women for a total of 77 residents. In December, their sprinkler system became damaged beyond repair and was deactivated. They are currently on 24/7 Fire Watch to ensure the safety of their residents until they can raise approximately $40,000 to get a new system installed. Please consider giving to MFH so that they can purchase this new sprinkler system: Meaningful and fun afternoon for the whole family - ages 8 and up! Come spend an afternoon sorting and packing food at the Harvesters food bank. This is a great opportunity to make a big difference in the lives of hungry individuals. Harvesters could not provide the 37 million meals that it does annually without the help of volunteers just like you. No fears, you can also see the videos through Vimeo, just go to user Anchor Watch at Lighthouse Saturday, April 14 th 5:00 8:00pm Anchor Watch is the official name we have given to our new Respite Care for families who have a loved one with special needs. On Saturday evening, April 14th, Lighthouse Church will become a beacon of hope for these families in our church and community. The parents and/or caregivers of loved ones with special needs (Buddies) will have an opportunity to bring both their loved one and his/her siblings to our church from 5:00 8:00pm. We will team up a volunteer with each Buddy, feed all of them pizza for dinner (yes, siblings too), have a brief devotion/prayer, and then encourage them to explore several types of rooms in the building (including a Quiet Room for people who are sensitive to sight and sound). There is no cost for this evening; nursery will be provided for children up to three years old, ages four and up will join in the activities. Since this is the first time we have done Anchor Watch, we will be limited to the first 20 Buddies who sign up. You may sign up your Buddy (and siblings) at the Welcome Table on Sunday mornings.
