On May 15 we had a wonderful celebration of the Festival of the Holy Spirit! We sang. We wore red. We heard the story of the first Pentecost from our Reading Chorus in seven different languages! It was a great day! But Pentecost is not just a single day. Too many churches look at it as though one day is all it gets. Some don t even give it a single day. Pentecost is more than a day. It is more than a season. Pentecost is a way of life! In the same way that we think of the ideals of Christmas and Easter being things that Christians should embrace and live all year round, we must think of Pentecost in the same way. There are two main things that Pentecost is about. 1) God lives within His people and His Church through the Holy Spirit. The first Pentecost tells about how the Holy Spirit came to the 120 gathered in the upper room in Jerusalem. Subsequent Pentecost-like events show us again that God the Holy Spirit lives within us i. Let s keep it alive all the time in our lives! In fact, if we will keep alive Christmas and Easter and Pentecost we will transform the world around us! Let s do it! One little girl was scribbling so intently that the teacher asked what she was drawing. The little girl replied, I m drawing a picture of Jesus.
