2 THE LIGHTHOUSE BEACON Page 2 CELEBRATE RECOVERY Celebrate Recovery is a support ministry for anyone who has hurts, habits and hang-ups and would like instruction, direction, fellowship and encouragement to overcome them through the power of Christ. Celebrate Recovery meets every Thursday evening: 6:30-8:30 pm in the worship area with a fellowship time beginning at 6:00 pm. Child care is provided. Lighthouse Job Positions Available Church Office Receptionist: The person who fills this part-time position will have general secretarial duties and needs to be proficient in dealing with people and with computers. The hours would be a week at $13.00 an hour. We are looking for someone who has a heart for the teens of Paola and who loves serving for the Lord. This may be the tune-up you need to move to- ward health and wholeness with God, those important to you, and even with yourself. Plan to join us on the evening of Sunday, April 2, 5:00-6:30pm, as Lighthouse Church welcomes a panel of four professionally trained Christian counselors from Mid-America Nazarene University. They will offer valuable information on issues, topics and questions related to men and those who are close to them. After a short presentation from the counselors, attendees will have an opportunity to write down anonymous questions for the panel to address. The next Beacon newsletter will be published on Thursday, April 13th. Deadline for all articles will be Friday, Apr. 7th. Thank you in advance for your help. If you are a man, or you are a woman married to a man, or you are currently raising a son who will one day become a man, this seminar will teach, renew and encourage you. This material is appropriate for mature (18 years and older) audiences only. Some of this information will be R-rated, so please, no one under 18 will be allowed. 3 THE LIGHTHOUSE BEACON Page 3 Easter Schedule Spring is here and Easter is right on its heels. As we watch new life burst from the soil, it reminds us of the new life that was given to us through the crucifixion of our Lord Jesus Christ. Let s celebrate Holy Week! Agnus Dei This image is known as the Agnus Dei, Latin for Lamb of God. When pictured standing and with a banner, it represents the risen Christ, victorious over death. John the Baptist, seeing Jesus approach, famously declared, Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world! (John 1:29, NIV). In Revelation, too, Jesus is portrayed as a lamb who was slain but now reigns triumphant. Sunday, April 9: Palm Sunday (Children will do a palm processional) The first day of Holy Week is known as Palm Sunday. In Jesus time, when Romans were victorious in battle, citizens traditionally threw palm branches in the returning hero s path. So when Jesus rode into Jerusalem, it was appropriate that he receive a hero s welcome. Thursday, April 13: Maundy Thursday Service 7:00pm - Service of Holy Communion (Nursery will be provided) On Maundy Thursday we commemorate Jesus Last Supper with his disciples in the Upper Room. Maundy is Latin for Mandate. It was this Passover night that Jesus gave the Mandate to Love one another as I have loved you. Sunday, April 16: Easter Sunday 7:30am - Worship Fire Lake Camp (29580 Lone Star Rd) 10:00am - Worship Lighthouse Church On Easter we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. We rejoice that he was raised from death and that he is alive today, tomorrow and forever. On Easter morning, (if you are an early riser) come and join us at our Sunrise Service at 7:30am. This is held in an outdoor setting at Fire Lake Camp. With this beautiful setting we will have singing, acoustic music and a simple worship service. Bring a lawn chair and a blanket (seats will also be provided). No nursery provided. If weather acts up, we will move inside to the barn. At 10:00am at Lighthouse Church we will have our traditional Easter service. Nursery will be provided during this time. Everyone is invited. Spread the good news and ask family and friends to worship with us.

In the cold and snow of winter there s a spring that waits to be, unrevealed until its season, God alone can see. Natalie Sleeth, Come and shop for cakes, pies, breads and cookies. Free will donations accepted on all merchandise. No item will be sold until worship is over. All proceeds will go to Pastor s Discretionary Fund. Jobs inside or outside the house? Saturday, April 29th our youth want to help!!! All funds will go toward church camp. Cards will be at the welcome table Sunday to complete. All proceeds will go toward our Haiti well repair program. Menu will include: scrambled eggs, link sausage, hash browns, biscuits/gravy, cinnamon roll, coffee and orange juice.

6 Children s Ministry THE LIGHTHOUSE BEACON Page 6 Palm Sunday-April 9th PARENTS On Palm Sunday, April 9th, all kids are invited to participate in the palm processional at the beginning of the 10:00am worship service. Just be sure to be here early enough for the kids to line up. Children s Ministry volunteers will be near the welcome table greeting children. We re growing and need you! Children s Church teachers, teacher assistants and nursery volunteers needed once a month during the 10:00am Sunday morning worship service. June 5th thru 9th Are there items that you can donate or save for us? We are gathering items to use for activities.
