DAILY DEVOTIONAL BOOKLETS The daily devotional booklets The Upper Room for Jan. / Feb are available on the information table in The Gathering Place. Pick up your free copy on Sunday morning OFFERING ENVELOPES The new packets of 2013 Offering Envelopes will be available in The Gathering Place in mid-december. Please pick up your packet to begin using on January 6, 2013! If you did not order a packet of 2013 Offering Envelopes and would like a packet, please contact Shelly Keihl: skeihl@gmail.com or Thank you! NURSERY HELP NEEDED Due to our wonderful, growing congregation, VCC is looking to hire two nursery workers for the 10:30 service. Each position will be paid $10 per service. Of the two positions, we are requesting at least one of them is an adult. If you, or someone you know, would be interested in this position, please contact Deb Loewer at or the church office. The positions will start the first Sunday in January. for VCC Pastor Dennis has been sharing a God-sized vision for VCC. A vision so grand, so huge, so impossible that it can only be accomplished by God, and He alone will receive the glory! Let s pray together, worship together, work together and serve together in accomplishing God s vision, purpose and will for His church! Vision #1: Spiritual leadership at VCC (Elders) Vision #2: Raising up new leaders at VCC. (Continual leadership training, equipping and empowering) Vision #3: Every leader and every member of VCC committed to weekly involvement in corporate worship and a small group Bible study and tithing. Vision #4: Grow His church (VCC) to (reaching the lost) Vision #5: Become an extravagantly generous church. Give away 50% of VCC s annual income to ministries and missions locally and around the world. Then Jesus came to them and said, All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. Many folks are taking advantage of the VCC Library! New books are continually being added be sure to stop in the library and check out an inspirational book. One of the newest books is A Season Of Angels by Thomas Kinkade and Katherine Spencer. A story that takes place on Christmas Eve / Christmas Day and is an powerful reminder of God s love and forgivness during this special time of the year. If you have any questions regarding the VCC Library Ministry please contact Diane REACHING OUT TO THAILAND Please continue to surround Kendra Wheeler with prayer as she concludes her mission trip to Thailand. She will be returning home to Versailles on December 13 th! VCC 2013 COLLEGE GRANTS Graduation time will soon be approaching! VCC desires to show love and support, through a College Grant, to qualified graduating high school seniors who decide to further their education. Qualifications for the Grant are as follows: * Must be an active member of VCC * Must attend worship services 50% or more * Must be a present year high school graduate * Submit a letter to VCC (by May 1) stating the name of the institution you will be attending; date you will enter the institution; planned course of study; and brief essay on God s plan for my life is * Grants will be distributed on Graduation Sunday in late May For additional information, please contact the church office. 4 MISSIONS & OUTREACH PRAISE THE LORD! VCC prepared 120 shoe boxes for children around the world! $ of donated gifts & goods! Approximately HURRICANE SANDY OFFERING Through the generosity of the VCC family a gift of $ was sent to assist the victims of Hurricane Sandy in Queens, Brooklyn and Staten Island! The funds will be distributed through the ministry of The Orchard Group in Manhatten, New York. DARKE COUNTY VCC is once again partnering with the Versailles High School FFA in the 19 th Annual Darke County Toys for Tots. We are collecting toys to help assist the less fortunate children in our county. Children receiving gifts/toys range in age from newborn to 16 years old. You can donate new toys or toys that are used but in excellent condition. Donations can be brought to the collection box in The Gathering Place through Sunday, December 16 th. If you would like to make a monetary donation please make your check payable to: Darke County Toys for Tots and send the check to Versailles FFA, 280 Marker Road, Versailles, OH Let s join together in making the holiday season brighter for all Darke County children! WORSHIP SERVICE AT VERSAILLES HEALTH CARE CENTER VCC will provide the monthly worship service at the Versailles Health Care Center on Sunday, December 2 2:00 p.m. Volunteers are needed to assist at this service to help the residents with using the hymnals and serving Communion. This is a wonderful ministry for the entire family to serve in! To volunteer please be in the Activities Room at VHCC by 2:00 p.m. If you have any questions please contact Pastor Dennis. MILITARY MINISTRY NEWS The VCC Military Ministry will be sending Christmas Care Packages the week of December 9 th. Donations are now being accepted and a collection box is located in The Gathering Place. If you know of anyone who is serving overseas (they do not have to be a member of VCC), please let Dewey or Deb Ward Thank you again for your generosity. 4
5 Progressive Dinner Saturday, December 8th 4:30 p.m. Enjoy an evening of adult fellowship and Christmas spirit. You will be treated to a delicious dinner as we travel to four homes with the evening ending with a White Elephant Gift Exchange. For more information, please contact Amy Brandt at or Jane Stall at VCC s 5 th Annual Christmas Candlelight Service Christmas and candlelight just seem to go together. The Christmas Candlelight Service at VCC, with hundreds of candles illuminating the sanctuary, has become a tradition for those who desire to worship in quietness and beauty. This beautiful, formal worship experience will be held on Sunday, December 16 th at 7:00 p.m. and will once again feature the highly renowned guest harpist, Deidre Grennen. Ms. Grennen will present a pre-service concert of Christmas music from 6:45 7:00 p.m. The Christmas Candlelight Service will also include special instrumental music featuring Ella Benning, organist and Peg Summers, pianist. Pastor Dennis J. Wheeler will share a heart-warming candlelight message from God s Word and the glorious evening will conclude with everyone participating in the candle lighting ceremony. Please encourage your family and friends to join you for this inspiriting Christmas service. (Nursery and childcare through 4 th grade will be provided.) Christmas Eve Worship Services December 24 th 5:00 p.m. & 7:00 p.m. You are encouraged to dress casually and to come from your parties & family gatherings to welcome the most wonderful event in history the birth of Jesus Christ! Two identical Christmas Eve worship services are offered this year for the entire family at 5:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. The music, Communion service, and the spoken Word will make this a Christmas Eve to remember. VCC Mission Statement Reaching people with the saving grace and love of Jesus Christ through prayer, serving, teaching, and joyful praise. 5

It s all FREE!! Be sure to bring your parents and your friends! We will also notify of cancellations through the One Call Now. If you are not currently a part of VCC s One Call Now please contact the church office and provide your home or cell phone number for inclusion. Please at all times take proper precautions when winter weather arrives. Thank you! New Year s Worship Celebration IT S TIME TO ORDER CHRISTMAS POINSETTIAS During the 2012 Christmas season at VCC, the church sanctuary will be decorated beautifully in white and gold! We ll be using white poinsettias wrapped with gold foil as décor on the stage area. You are invited to place poinsettias in honor or in memory of your loved ones. Orders for poinsettias ($8.00 per plant) began on Sunday, November 18 th and will continue through Sunday, December 2 nd. Orders can be placed on your Sunday morning Communication Slip. If you have any questions, please contact the church office. Thank you! CHRISTMAS GIFT FOR VCC S PASTORS On December 3rd, VCC will have a special collection for the pastors Christmas gift. The offerings collected will be divided between our two pastors Dennis and Justin. If you have offering envelopes, the first envelope for the month of December will be used for this offering. The brown envelopes (or just a regular envelope) can be used as well.
