Seventh Sunday of Easter May 13, 2018 Fort Des Moines is a caring community of people who will care for you regardless of who you are. If you are looking for a place where Christ s love is evident and God s grace is offered to all, then I hope you will join us for worship and fellowship. As your Son looked upon the face of Mary his mother in love, look upon the faces of these precious mothers we honor today. 6 Opportunities to Serve There are always many opportunities to serve at Fort Des Moines. There are a few possibilities listed below, but you are not limited to these. If you have a passion for a certain kind of service or feel God might be calling you to some specific area, please let us know. If you have a particular date that you know would work well for you to be involved in some of these, let us know that as well. Circle the ones that interest you. Thank you. May God bless the hands who made these goodies for us. Next Sunday will be Food Pantry Sunday. Donations of shelf-stable food items, cash, personal hygiene items, diapers of all sizes, and brown paper grocery bags are welcome. These items will be delivered to the Des Moines Area Religious Council s Food Pantry Network. Tuesday Morning Bible Study meets at 11:00 a.m. in the library. Everyone is welcome! If you are interested in becoming a member of Ft. Des Moines United Methodist Church, talk to Pastor Dass. If you or someone you know is interested in being baptized, contact Pastor Dass. The four South-side Methodist Churches will be hosting Vacation Bible School (VBS) on Friday, August 3, 7:15 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., at Bloomfield UMC. Volunteers are needed for various duties throughout the day: registration 7:15-8:30 a.m.; photographer 7:15-8:30 a.m.; opening and closing devotions/music 8:30-9:00 a.m. and 4:30-5:00 p.m.; craft leader 9:30-10:00 a.m., 12:00-12:30 p.m., 1:45-2:15 p.m.; game leader 12:00-12:30 p.m. and 1:45 2:15 p.m.; snacks & lunch 10:00 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 2:45 p.m.; Bible story leaders (3 half hour lessons through the day/ lessons will be provided); floater 8:00 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Volunteers are also needed to help with set-up on Thursday, August 2.
