Baptisms ordinarily should not take place during Lent except in case of emergency. (2019 March6th April 21st) Marriages: Reserve and register date & time as soon as possible, at least six months in advance of the wedding. Pre-Cana and other instructional sessions are required for all couples. Ministry to the Sick: Sick calls and Communion calls on the First Friday of the month. Please call the Rectory.

This weekend we will take up a free will collection to support Kerala, India. Kerala is suffering its worst monsoon flooding in a century. One million people have been displaced and more than 400 have dies due to the monsoon. The money collected will be sent to the dioceses and religious communities in India. Thank you for your support. All Mass requests for the 8:30 Mass will be celebrated at 8 am. The Extraordinary Form Mass in Latin will be celebrated every Sunday at 9:30 am. All Mass requests scheduled for the 10 am Mass will be celebrated at the 9:30 Extraordinary Form. The 7pm Mass on Saturday evening & 12 noon Mass on Sunday will not change. 3 September 30th, 2018 Twenty-sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time Parish Community News & Events Tuesday Evening Devotions: Beginning on Tuesday, October 2nd, 2018 we will have Tuesday Evening Devotions. The first Tuesday of the month will be the St. Padre Pio Devotion at 7pm followed by Mass at 8pm. The following Tuesdays will be the St. Jude Novena & Seasonal Devotions. 7pm Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament. 7:30 pm -Devotion with Benediction Please join us for these prayerful Tuesday evenings. In honor of the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi the Blessing of Animals will take place Sunday, October 7th after the 12:00 noon Mass. All those who would like to have their animals blessed are asked to meet in front of the St. Francis Statue on 210th Street outside of the Church. Catholic Charismatic Prayer Group (Spanish) Praise, prayer, and teaching assembly Sunday, Sept. 30 after 12 noon Mass Preacher: Jose Hernandez Music: Jesus El Buen Pastor Free adm. Food will be sold. The Holy Name Society is offering religious Christmas Cards for sale at the upcoming Parish Flea Market on October 7. They are on display in the vestibule. Parish Community News & Events St. Padre Pio Holy Hour and Mass Tuesday, October 2nd Program: 7:00 PM Holy Hour Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, Recitation of the Rosary, Divine Mercy Chaplet, Benediction, & Confessions. 8:00PM Holy Mass. The Parish Right to Life Committee is organizing a Remembrance and Healing for Cancer for the month of October. We will once again present Our Blessed Mother with a floral bouquet in honor of cancer survivors or those who are receiving treatment and in memory of loved ones who lost their battle with cancer. There are marked envelopes available around the Church to make your donation of at least $5.00. Your donations, in the name of your loved one(s) will help fund the work of Helpers of God's Precious Infants, who assist expectant mothers and fathers to choose the gift of life, and the Dominican Sisters of Hawthorne, who care for individuals with incurable cancer. Ms. Etienne is in the discernment process for the Benedictines of Mary, Queen of Apostles. She will be speaking to us about her path to religious life and The Laboure Society. We invite all Catholic children attending public schools to register for religious instruction at our parish. Classes are held on Saturday mornings from 9 10:30 AM. All children in Grades 1 through 8 are welcome. Religious Education Classes for our parish children have begun. To date, 157,525 has been collected. Remember, over 50% of the funds collected will be returned to the parish! Here at Saint Josaphat s we will receive $153,910 on our total raised of $307,820! I would like to give my genuine and heartfelt thanks to all the families and individuals that helped make the campaign a success. Please be sure to send your pledge payments. 5 Munus : Teach, Govern, and Sanctify Laudetur Iusus Christus, is Latin for the traditional Catholic greeting "Praised Be Jesus Christ". Dear parishioners of St. Josaphat Parish, I greet you with these words as I introduce my first "From the Pastor's Desk" column. Since by title I am not a Pastor but Administrator I would like to call this column Munera: Teach, Govern and Sanctify. Munera is Latin for function or gifts. The three duties of the Church are to Teach, Govern, and Sanctity. Munus docendi, the duty to teach, based on Christ's role as Prophet. Munus sanctificandi, the duty to sanctify, based on Christ's role as Priest. Munus regendi, the duty to shepherd (govern) based on Christ's role as King. As I begin this role of Servant Leadership I pray we will all work together in building the Kingdom of God in our little corner of Bayside. I thank all of you for your words of welcome and support since I arrived on 30 June Based on St. Luke's Gospel I use our Lord's words as my conclusion... Fear not little flock, Fr. Saffron To celebrate the month of the Holy Rosary, October. Fr. Saffron will pray the Rosary each evening at 7:00 in the Rectory Garden (behind the Hall). On nights when he cannot be there, the faithful are invited to come and pray. On Tuesday evenings the Rosary will be prayed in Church. All are welcome to pray with us. America needs Fatima Please join us as we pray the rosary for Our Lady's intentions, including world peace. This day marks the 101st anniversary of our Lady of Fatima s apparition.
