2 Cluster Office Update This past Labor Day gave me time to think about work. I found inspiring words on work from St. Gregory the Great whose feast was on Labor Day this year: Since the hours and their moments are running away, see to it, dearly beloved, that they are filled with what will earn the wages of a good work. Listen to what Solomon in his wisdom says: Do vigorously everything your hand can do, because there will be no work or plan or wisdom or knowledge in the lower world, to which you are hurrying. Since we do not know the time of our coming death, and we cannot work after death, it remains for us to seize the time granted us before death. Cluster Office Update. I would like to give an update on the work being done on the cluster office building project. We found contractors willing to bid on the building project, and the architect informed me that bidding will open in mid-september. At the beginning of October, the architect has scheduled to receive the bids. If we have a bid that fits our budget, construction can begin in mid-october, pending the contractor s availability, of course. There is a light at the end of the tunnel! Even if everything goes well, the cluster office and adoration chapel won t be finished until February. Because I want the staff to work together under one roof sooner than later, I am taking steps to bring us together in the next month. My plan is to move everyone into the existing admin building at. This will require changes for everyone in the cluster. Here are the changes that will come with this move. The first two I already announced at the Town Hall presentation on March 15, First, when we make this move, the office at St James will go to a part time schedule, open Monday morning and Friday morning. There will be a staff member on site Monday morning while the collections are counted. There will be a staff member on site Friday morning so parishioners can do church business after Friday daily Mass. Second, the St. Philip office will not be regularly staffed when we move under one roof. Like I said at the Town Hall meeting, the office can still be used (for example, for meetings, youth group, and money counting) until we have religious sisters who can move in. I also wanted to update you on the religious sisters. Mother Superior was making her annual visit last month from the Philippines to see the convent in Zachary, so I asked if she could come by our cluster parishes. We had five nuns tour our three parishes on a Friday morning, and we concluded with lunch in the St Philip office. I had a few parishioners to welcome the sisters at each visit. I look forward to when we can have them stay in our cluster! Peace, Fr. 4 Now Hiring: Part Time Maintenance Fr. Matthew is looking for hands-on help in the cluster parishes. The part time maintenance position will assist with small repair projects, upkeep of the cluster facilities, and setting up for events (for example, moving tables and chairs) among other tasks. Happy Grandparents Day FYI: Staying Informed We have several different methods of keeping you informed about what is happening in our parishes. One is our bulletin - The Cane Catholic Courier which is posted to our website every week. It is also ed to over 900 parishioners through the Flocknote system and is available for pickup at all three churches and the adoration chapel. Our website CaneCatholics.com, is another way to stay up to date with parish life. When navigating our website, here are some useful tips on how to find what you are looking for: Ministry Schedules: click on Sacraments, Ministry Schedules Registration Forms: Click on Youth and then click on the form you need for your church parish. Online Giving - click on Give and the church parish you want to give to. Fill in the form and submit. Cane Catholic Courier (the bulletin) - Click on Our Parishes and then Cane Catholic Courier, then on the issue you want, latest issue is the first one. Baptism: Click on Sacraments, Baptism. Watch the intro video and cursor down to the online registration form, fill and submit. Your completed registration form is ed to the parish office. Youth Group: Click on Youth and then Pour le Christ. Forms for upcoming events will be posted there. The Calendar of Events for our parishes is on the home page of the website as well as the Formed Pick of the Week. Flocknote is a system that allows you to register to receive information by or text. As mentioned above, we have over 900 parishioners from all three parishes that subscribe to Flocknote. At least one parent of all Faith Formation students was entered into the Flocknote system this fall. This will help our catechists and Faith Formation staff better communicate with our parents about meetings, rehearsals, emergency notifications in the event that we have to cancel classes. Youth Group members are encouraged to join Flocknote to so you don t miss out on any of the events that are planned. We can also send out notifications to all who are registered in the event that we have to close the Adoration Chapel or make a change to the regular Mass schedule. The information for joining Flocknote is listed on the front page of the bulletin.
