Profozich By: Family SNP Grotto: Our Mothers By: Parishioners FR. JIM S CORNER Now that the new parish groupings have been announced as well as the new clergy teams and number of Masses allowed for each new parish grouping, many are saying, Well, Fr. Jim it s finally over! Far from it! The real work now commences for the new clergy team to collaborate with the old clergy team to share information, exchanges ideas and make suggestions as the new parish officially starts up on October 15, In this weekend s Pittsburgh Catholic, every family received a home edition which listed all the parish groupings for the six counties in our diocese. It is a massive restructuring likes of which have never been seen. But it is necessary for many reasons that have already been expressed by the leadership in our diocese. Throughout the process, prayer has been at the forefront of everything we do for On Mission. And that must continue. Bishop Zubik has asked every parish to have a time of Eucharistic Adoration between April 27th and October 14 th. Every day during that period of time, Eucharistic Adoration will be celebrated in a parish in our diocese. Ours has already been scheduled Holy Spirit on Sunday, May 20 th and St. Nicholas on Sunday, September 30 th. All are welcome to come and pray for the church those days! Each parish will continue business as usual through October 14 th. But the ongoing transition process will be the focus for the clergy teams, primarily but not exclusively, to work out the many details to prepare for the startup on October 15 th. Each new clergy team has been given a blueprint which is unique for each specific grouping. From that blueprint, many, many decisions will have to be made to prepare for the grouping of the parishes. Just one example is Campaign for the Church Alive. The new clergy team will be given all the case statements from each parish to reprioritize the use of the funds remaining. And of course, in May and June, clergy will be meeting to discuss that which probably is most concerning in the minds of many parishioners namely the new Mass schedule. Beginning October 15 th, that new Mass schedule will be in effect. It will probably not be the same for the parishes in our grouping since it must be based on the number of priests assigned in the grouping. No, it is not over but now we will have the opportunity to witness the love of God alive in our hearts. While this might seem like a burden to some, it is at the heart of the Christian life as we build up the Body of Christ, the Church. God Bless. Idi sa Bogom Fr. Jim

To advertise, call KRETZLER S FEAST OF THE ASCENSION On Thursday we celebrate Christ's ascension into heaven and his commissioning of the disciples to carry on his mission in the world. First we hear Luke's description of those events in the opening verses of the Acts of the Apostles. Next we hear words of encouragement and guidance from the Letter to the Ephesians. Finally we hear Mark's account of the Ascension, foretelling the mighty works and acts the Christian community would do in Jesus' name. Together these scriptures give us a vision of the mission of the church of Jesus Christ a mission statement of sorts. Like mission statements in our parishes and corporations, this mission statement can help us set priorities and focus our activities. It can guide and support us as we strive to continue Christ's messianic mission on earth. Copyright (c) J. S. Paluch Co., Inc. NEW CHURCH MEMBERS AT HSP & SNP PARISHES New members are always welcome. For more information, call or We hope you can join us! LOVE ONE ANOTHER: THE CALL TO BUILD RELATIONSHIPS As the On Mission for The Church Alive! announcements continue to sink in, we hear Jesus call in today s Gospel to love one another. It s a simple command, without condition or rationalization. To love one another is the call of the Christian life and is at the heart of the On Mission! initiative. In the coming months the parishes in our grouping will begin to work together to build relationships rooted in faith, hope and love. These relationships should not be forced or fake but should recognize that we are one in our Catholic faith and that nothing should divide us. Then, with our common faith and love for one another as our foundation, we will be able to form parishes that are truly alive as resources, efforts and energies are shared. It can be easy to love what is familiar to us. As we journey On Mission for The Church Alive! let us seek new ways to heed Jesus call to love one another.
