In just four weeks it will be them, together with Bishop Christopher and the Arch Deacon, who will interview candidates applying to become the new Vicar at St George s. They promise to use their best judgement as they try to discern the right person for the role. The Bishop has published advertisements for the post this week. St George s has been very fortunate to be led by Father Mike and Lynda for several happy years but it is vital that we don't look backwards too much. St. George s can't use Mike's ministry as some fixed pattern to replicate at all cost. St George s is blessed with a devoted congregation that bring huge enthusiasm to liturgy, fund raising and our church community. It is vital that we recognise a new ministry which will start here soon. We must continue to contribute with generosity our time and talents. The gospel message is clear - we will grow and develop in our relationship with God. Barbie and Richard ask that you join them as they pray for this process. In private prayer this week they will ask that the Holy Spirit moves the right person to hear about our parish vacancy. We pray that the right person will consider joining us to lead the next chapter of St George's journey. We pray that their contribution to the appointment process will be constructive and fruitful. Please pass on any material for publication to John Johnson as soon as possible. feedback@stgeorgesnews.org St. George s Book Club This month s chosen book is The Earth Hums in B Flat by Mari Strachan and has been chosen by Lynn Winter. We meet again on the 12 th of December at Patricia Byrne s home to review the book. Pause and Pray for Havant Borough tomorrow at 6:00PM 7:00PM Join us at St Thomas' Church, Bedhampton to pray for God to move in our Borough, with the result that all our church communities will be blessed as this happens. This will be a monthly Monday event held in different churches. Advent Quiet Day St. Faith s Walsingham Cell are having an Advent Quiet Day on Saturday December 2 nd at St. John the Baptist Church, Rowlands Castle. They invite Waterlooville Cell friends to share it with them. The programme begins with tea/coffee at 9.30am ready for 10am start and finishing at 4.00pm. The New Blendworth Association - Over recent years St. George's has been kind enough to support this local Special Needs Centre for adults with learning difficulties by way of retiring collections. The Centre now has an urgent need to replace one of its minibuses and has made an application to the Aviva Community Fund for a grant of up to 5000 to help with this project. Funds are allocated by the fund on the basis of votes cast for the project and if you would like to assist by registering with the fund at and voting accordingly, your help in this way would be greatly appreciated. 5 Ina Williams a resident of Two Beeches had been in our prayers for a number of weeks but has sadly died. Those who knew her may like to know that her funeral will be held on Friday 17 th November at 11.15am at Portchester Crematorium. Flowers are welcome. Confirmation It is hoped to hold a Deanery Confirmation service at All Saints, Denmead, on Sunday 15 th July 2018 at 3.30pm. Would you like to be confirmed? Please let John Hood, Anne Morgan or Lesley Handy know. Travelling Nativity will be going around the parish again spending each night with a different family from Advent Sunday 3rd December and will be returned to Church on Christmas Eve. If you would like to shelter the Holy Family for one night on its way to Bethlehem please put your name, address and telephone number on one of the lists either on the table at the back of Church, with Toddlers or Sunday School by Sunday 19th November to give me time to work out the list. The Social committee would appreciate the following items to support the Christmas Bazaar; gifts/items for the tombola stall, raffle prizes, Christmas gifts, toiletries etc. These can be left in the black bin at the bottom of the choir steps.
