In Horsham we are supporting the Horsham Churches Together Projects; Anchor Counselling & Therapy. At St. Mary s Our Serving & Transforming the Community & Our Proclaiming the Gospel 1 st Apr: We pray for all the board members of Anchor Ministries; we ask that the Lord will refresh their commitment and show them clearly His vision for their work. 8 th Apr: We praise God for the talents and gifts he gives to his people, and we pray that he will call and inspire local Christians to take on roles within Anchor Ministries. Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead (First Letter of Peter, Chapter 1 verse 3)

3 St Mary s Church Family News THIS WEEK Sunday 8 th April 8am Breakfast - all welcome in the Leslie room for free continental breakfast after the service. (Next one will be 6 th May.) FOR YOUR INFORMATION Judi Cox & Schools Team are looking for Job Guests/workers in all sorts of lines of work: Would you consider coming and talking to students at Holy Trinity School about your job, along with other job guests? Very Informal! Give details of your job. What you do. What you love/find challenging. What led you to do this job. What qualifications you needed then/they would need now. Be open to questions. Are you free on Wednesday 18th April between 9.30 and am? There are students from our latest Early Interventions course (Eliv8), who are interested in these jobs, and would love to meet you. Some of these students have struggled in various ways, and could do with concentrating more on their interests and strengths, with a view to being affirmed in who they are/how valuable they are! Could you help? Do you know anyone who could? We would love to hear from you. You will also get to cheer them on, as they receive their certificates for the course, and support them in that way! Tel: 'Thy Kingdom Come' Prayer Area: A dedicated prayer area has been created in a corner of St. Peter's Chapel in the Barn. This will allow a private & undisturbed prayer space for our use during the 'Year of Prayer', either as individuals, or for the prayer vigils to be arranged. You are welcome to come and use this area any time during office hours (Mon-Fri 10am- 2pm) EXCEPT Tue 1-2pm and Wed 11am-12.30pm. St.Mary's now has a good selection of high class, hand crafted with a Christian message, very reasonably priced greetings cards for sale, alongside the marmalade and cake, in the bell tower. Please do come along and see! We have cards for most occasions including the obvious, like birthday and anniversary but also sympathy, new home, congratulations (on exams/driving test/new birth) baptism/christening and "just because". Proceeds go to charities and our own Thanks a Million Fund. Please do come along and see if we have anything to suit your needs or, if you don't see what you need/like, telephone Liz Hawkins ( ). Diocesan Safeguarding Training Event in the Barn on Monday 18th June from 7pm to 9.30pm. Please can anybody who has not attended training in the last 3 years sign up to this via the diocesan website or by calling Kim Nash at Church House direct. 4 Coming soon Training Morning in Intercessory Prayer for everyone in Horsham Deanery: Saturday 14th April, to 1.00pm here at St. Mary's Horsham If our prayer life has become tired and flat, or if we are no longer praying for others as we once did... or if we aren't sure how to get started in intercessory prayer... let's come and be inspired and refreshed! All St Mary s congregation are warmly encouraged to come the course is free - it would help to let the office know numbers for the refreshments for the mid morning coffee break. More information available on the flyers at the back of church. Sunday April 15 th 11am Family Nature Trail Meet at church (Normandy) at 11am and we will lead a gentle, buggy friendly families nature walk to Chesworth finishing at the studio for a picnic (bring your own) and cake & tea. Scavenger hunt and children s activities, no charge but please let Fiona Prentice, Karen Perrett or the church office know if you re coming. Saturday April 21st 9-11am WhoLetTheDadsOut? in the church centre/barn: for all dads/male carers and their children. Come and have some fun with breakfast too! The theme this time is construction and we will have a Lego room set up. Pool, table football, Mariokart wii, messy play and all the usual activities. Donation is asked to help towards costs. All welcome except mums! Mon 7 th May St Mary s Family Fun Day and 5k Trail Run: 10am Children s Fun Obstacle Course and Colour Run 5 11am 5k Trail Run (run, jog or walk) 10 in advance 15 on the day; Barrack Field next to Horsham Cricket Club. Includes cake stall, lucky dip, children s entertainment, forest school crafts, games, bouncy castle, beer & gin tents, food & refreshments. 5 Flower Festival 14-18th June: Our theme for this year s Flower Festival is Inspired based on books, musicals and Art inspired by the Christian story. The Flower Festival is always very popular, a great way of outreach to the town and a great way of raising funds. Last year it raised an amazing 4500! Its success is very dependent on sponsorship and donations mainly from local businesses and churches to cover the costs of the flowers for the arrangements and for stocking the cafe. If anyone would like to consider sponsoring an arrangement or giving a donation (however small) it would be greatly appreciated. We hope you will feel Inspired to support us, please contact either Judy Brinkworth H , Jo Benson H or Ali in the Church Office Thursday 12 th April am: The Informal coffee morning will take place in the church centre. These coffee mornings follow on from a simple Eucharist (in St Peter s Chapel in the church centre) at 10.00am to which all are welcome and are held on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays in the month: next date is 26 th April. FOSTERING AND ADOPTION SUPPORT TEAM: You are invited to come and find out more about fostering and adoption in a relaxed setting with drinks and desserts on Friday, 11 th May from 8pm-9:30pm at St Mark's Church Hall, off North Heath Lane, RH12 5PU. Whether you are just interested or are already doing it, We are an informal support group from a variety of churches In Horsham, all caring for vulnerable children and young people.
