In this place let the town and parish of Waterlooville hear the Gospel of Christ according to Matthew. Glory to you, O Lord. GOSPEL READING read by Fr. Charles Howard This is the Gospel of Christ. Praise to you, O Christ. HYMN Jesus is Lord! Yet from his throne eternal in flesh he came to die in pain on Calvary s tree. Jesus is Lord! From him all life proceeding, he gave his life a ransom thus setting us free. Jesus is Lord! O er sin the mighty conqueror, from death he rose and all his foes shall own his name. Jesus is Lord! God sent his Holy Spirit to show by works of power that Jesus is Lord. As the Procession leads into the Church PROCESSIONAL HYMN Before the Saviour s face the ransomed nations bow; o erwhelmed at his almighty grace, for ever new. He shows his prints of love, they kindle to a flame, and sound through all the worlds above the slaughtered Lamb. The whole triumphant host give thanks to God on high: Hail, Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, they ever cry; Hail, Abraham s God and mine! I join the heavenly lays; all might and majesty are thine, and endless praise. SERMON
My friends, I invite you to affirm your faith in the risen Jesus Christ. Do you believe and trust in God the Father, source of all being and life, the one in whom we exist? I believe and trust in him. Do you believe and trust in God the Son, who took our human nature, died for us and rose again? I believe and trust in him. Do you believe and trust in God the Holy Spirit, who gives life to the people of God and makes Christ known in the world? I believe and trust in him. This is the faith of the Church. This is our faith. We believe and trust in one God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. INTERCESSIONS led by Richard Spurgeon Lord hear us: Lord graciously hear us. THE NOTICES In every place and in every generation God has raised up his saints to preach a message of hope and of peace. The peace of the Lord be always with you: And also with you. Let us offer each other a sign of peace. OFFERTORY HYMNS BBC 333 and BBC 324 omit verse 4 The Lord be with you And also with you. Lift up your hearts We lift them to the Lord. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God It is right to give thanks and praise. for ever praising you and singing: Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest.
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest. Let us proclaim the mystery of faith: Christ has died, Christ is risen, Christ will come again....we worship you in songs of everlasting praise: Lord, for ourselves: in living power remake us self on the cross and Christ upon the throne, past put behind us, for the future take us: Lord of our lives, to live for Christ alone! As our Saviour Jesus Christ taught Peter and all the saints, we join with them and pray: Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done; on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen. We break the bread of life and that life is the light of the world: God here among us light in the midst of us bring us to light and life. Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world: have mercy on us. Lamb of God, you take away the sins
of the world: have mercy on us. Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world: grant us peace. This is the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. Happy are those who are called to his supper. Lord, I am not worthy to receive you, but only say the word and I shall be healed. Please come forward to receive Communion or a Blessing COMMUNION HYMNS BBC 327 and BBC 253 CHOIR ANTHEM I will call you friends by Malcolm Archer My friends, as my ministry comes to a close, your ministry increases; as my time in this parish reaches an end, it s not the end of St. George s - you are St. George s Church, and so I ask: will you continue in the apostles' teaching and fellowship, in the prayers and in the breaking of bread? With the help of God, we will. Will you proclaim by word and example the good news of Christ to the people of Waterlooville? With the help of God, we will. Will you seek Christ in all the people of this parish, loving your neighbour as yourself? With the help of God, we will. Will you pray for this town and for all who live here, for the sick, the dying, the bereaved and for those who have died? With the help of God, we will. Will you continue to welcome the stranger into this place, to help the fallen, bind up the wounded and show Christ to all? With the help of God, we will. Lord God, the source of truth and love, we give you thanks for this Eucharist and for the example of Peter the Apostle. Keep us faithful to his teaching that united in prayer and in the breaking of the bread, we may be your chosen Church in this place. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
The Lord be with you: And also with you. God, who kindled the fire of love in the hearts of Peter and all the saints, pour upon you the riches of his grace. Amen. God give you joy in their fellowship and a share in their praises. Amen. God strengthen you to follow their way of holiness and so join Peter, George and all the saints in his kingdom. Amen. Go into the world in peace: be of good courage; hold fast to that which is good; render to no-one evil for evil; strengthen the faint-hearted; support the weak; help the afflicted; honour all people; love and serve the Lord, rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit; and the blessing of God Almighty, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, come down upon you, and those whom you love, and remain with you now and for ever. Amen. Go in the love, joy and peace of Christ: Thanks be to God! 12 Waterlooville Music Festival You will be interested to know that the number of people attending the various concerts, events and services last week is the biggest ever at 4,635. The previous record was just 15 people less in Grenfell Tower Following last week s tragic fire in London, two donations have been sent one from the Waterlooville Music Festival and one from St. George s Church. Totalling around 1,000, they have been sent to St. Clement s Church, Notting Gate, which is providing both short and long term assistance to the people affected. June Diaper Sadly June fell off her bike last week and broke her hip. She is now in QA Hospital having had an operation. Strangely, June was in the adjacent bed to Audrey Mentor! We wish them both a speedy recovery and assure them of our continued prayers. Cricket Afternoon Social Event at Glendene next Sunday at 2pm. Everyone can take part or just come as spectators. Please bring some tea time sandwiches or some cake to share. If you would like to stay later for the BBQ, please bring food to cook. There will be an option to swim. A decision regarding the weather will be made on the day and announced at the 10am service. Thanks Tony Rice-Oxley Flags removed from Clock After several attempts to get the string of flags removed from the north and east clock faces, last Tuesday a fire engine arrived from Waterlooville Fire Station. A team of men and women struggled with ladders and eventually freed the north face. Later they returned and have taken down most of the flags from the east face and so the clock should now work again. Huge thanks to the fire brigade for their assistance. A donation from the Church was given to the Fire Brigade benevolent Fund. Congratulations to Mo Peter's daughter, Rosie. She's just gained a 2.1 degree in drama from Exeter University. Well done! We wish all our young people all the best for their exams at this time. St. George s Book Club is on Tuesday this week at 8 Topaz Grove, Waterlooville. PO7 8ST
