I'm talking about "unique," weird," "bizarre," "strange " "goofy," and "quirky." Grace based homes should provide a safe haven for these kinds of children. I'm not saying that grace-based homes should tolerate sin, or evil, or anything that goes contrary to clearly stated precepts in the Bible. For instance, a child who interrupts his/her teachers, speaks disrespectfully to people in authority, or uses caustic put-downs against his/ her siblings can't hide behind any of the synonyms listed above as a way of abdicating responsibility for his/her actions. He/ she can't explain his/ her disrespectful behavior with a throwaway excuse like, Listen, I'm just goofy that way. Why can't you just accept me as I am?" Those who are just plain different and do goofy things aren't necessarily wrong. They're just different. Grace Based Parenting, pg 143 PARENT(S) S RESPONSIBILITY: Parent(s), you are responsible for your child(ren) at all times. A child or children under 14 years MUST BE accompanied by an adult to the restroom, at snack time, and during lunch break. Your child(ren) MUST BE in your company at all times. 6 HISTORY OF PATHFINDERS The roots of Pathfindering go back to 1919 when Arthur Spaulding organized the Mission Scouts for his own children and their friends. In the 1920 s, Harriet Holt and C. Lester Bond helped develop the JMV classes, MV Honours and the Master Guide leadership. The name, Pathfinder seems to have made its debut as the first JMV camp on the west coast at Julian in 1928 when Arthur Spaulding told a campfire story of John Fremont, the Pathfinder. When Southeastern California Conference purchased a camp at Idyllwild in 1930 it was named JMV Pathfinder Camp. In the 1930 s, John McKim, an Adventist scoutmaster and Dr. Theron Johnson started a club for boys in Santa Ana which they called Pathfinders. The club was short-lived as the church board asked the two brethren to stop this worldly enterprise Lawrence Skinner experimented with JMV clubs in Hawaii, Southern California and in the North Pacific Union with Trailblazers. In 1946 when John Hancock was elected youth director of Southeastern California Conference, he organized the first conference-sponsored Pathfinder Club at Riverside. He designed the Pathfinder sleeve patch and put the juniors in JMV uniforms. In 1947, Elder Skinner asked J.R. Nelson, Pacific Union Conference youth director, to develop the Pathfinder Club program with the help of his local conference youth directors. By 1950 the organization was in high gear, with a solid activity program including outdoor activities by Donald Palmer, activity books by Lawrence Paulson, a flag, and a song written by Henry Bergh. It was evident the Pathfinder club program was ready to be adopted by the General Conference and this was done in L.A. Skinner, John Hancock and Lee Carter wrote a Pathfinder Staff Manual and a booklet on how to start a Pathfinder Club and in a few short years Pathfindering took off world-wide. As Pathfindering grew, fairs and camporees were added and in more recent years the Pathfinders have been actively engaged in evangelism, mission outreach to many countries and community service at home. The Pathfinder Club has proved to be one of the greatest influences to win and hold the youth to the church. 6
7 PATHFINDER EMBLEM Meaning: The red color on the emblem represents the blood of Jesus Christ and how Pathfinders believe that He gave His life as salvation from sin. The white color represents purity, and how the objective of Pathfinders is to have the purity and righteousness of Jesus Christ in their lives. The blue color represents loyalty and how one of the objectives of the club is to be loyal to God, their parents, and their church. The gold color represents excellence and how it is a standard of measurement. The Pathfinder club has high standards to help build a strong character for the kingdom of heaven. The 3 sides of the emblem represent completeness. Completeness of the Godhead: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. It also represents the tripod of education: Mental (as done through Honors and Crafts), Physical (as done through work bees and campouts), and Spiritual (as done in witnessing and missionary activities). The shield represents protection. In the Bible, God is often called the shield of His people. The sword represents the Bible. They are in spiritual warfare against sin; their weapon is the Bible. (Ephesians 6) and God the most important part. 7

Please use the supplies to write down the acts of kindness and place them on the tree, as this will be its leaves. We want our tree to be laden with leaves, as we show others God's love by His fruit of the spirit: Kindness. We have also created a Take What You Need board! We have put some of Gods words/key quotes to fill your heart and lift your spirit. It is our hope that this will serve as a boost when you may not have the umption to be kind, or when others have been unkind to you. Please leave the cards there so that our project can continue to be a success. If anyone needs ideas on how to be kind... ask one of our team members. So let s go and kill someone with kindness! 10 ANNOUNCEMENTS Crisis Resources: Distress Lines operated by various agencies. When in need of someone to talk to. Open 24 hours a day (unless indicated). Toronto Distress Centre Contact Centre Telecare Peel , Languages: English, Punjabi, Hindu, Urdu, Spanish, Portuguese Assaulted Women s Helpline Distress Centre Peel Durham Crisis Line Oakville Distress Centre Gerstein Centre Kids Help Phone Warm Line, Progress Place (every day from 8pm to midnight) DIABETES: The body needs sugar for energy: muscle eats sugar, muscle mass builds strength, and strength creates proper posture and holistic energy (physical endurance, and mental health). On the contrary, fat stores salt which increases fat levels, reduces energy, and stresses the internal organs. The more muscle you have the more energetic you will feel because it is a better load bearer than fat. If I already have it, what may I do about it? If you have already been diagnosed with pre/diabetes, speak with your physician and dietitian/nutritionist. But, the main thing is to keep active. Before undergoing any form of exercise, you must consult with your doctor because you might be at risk of heart disease. Remember, insulin is not designed to cure diabetes, but help manage diabetes. An ounce of prevention is a pound of cure; by work out, you ll stand a better chance of avoiding pre/diabetes. You are at a higher risk of developing diabetes if your family has a history of having it. But, you might break that lineage by reducing your risk of developing diabetes, if you stay active. ATTENTION SENIORS 60+: a). If you re interested in joining a prayer line See Sis. Jennifer Watson. Majestic Choir is appealing for new members to join in their music ministry - especially male members. Rehearsal on Tuesdays at 7:00 p.m. 10

DECEMBER: 5:00 p.m. 1 -Prayer Ministry Week of Prayer 8 -Adventurer Day 15 - Ask the Pastor & Ask the Youth 22 -NO AY 29 -NO AY Iniquity Within Our Hearts Psalm 66: If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me: 19 But verily God hath heard me; he hath attended to the voice of my prayer. MEN S CORNER Meditation of the Week: Nothing hinders prayer from being answered like iniquity harboured in the heart. If we harbour iniquity in our heart, the Lord, who hates iniquity, would not regard and answer our prayers. In order that prayers may be heard and answered, we must purpose to forsake sin it is sin that lies at the door and causes us to harbour iniquity. 11
