Room to be Different: The primary way to give our children grace is to offer it in place of our selfish preferences. They receive grace when we choose not to commit sins against their hearts when our human nature would suggest that it would be okay to do so. In fact, the greater grace that children receive is when we can even see the sins we are inclined to commit against their hearts followed by our willingness to go against our selfish urges. So much grace is stolen in the heat of a moment by our selfishness. Kids want things, need things, say things, or do things that either bother us, embarrass us, or hurt us. But sometimes the reason we are hurt is because we might be exercising immaturity, insecurity, or indifference. We take things that are huge to children and trivialize them, or we take small issues and magnify them out of proportion. Grace Based Parenting, pg 141 PARENT(S) S RESPONSIBILITY: Parent(s), you are responsible for your child(ren) at all times. A child or children under 14 years MUST BE accompanied by an adult to the restroom, at snack time, and during lunch break. Your child(ren) MUST BE in your company at all times. Please use the supplies to write down the acts of kindness and place them on the tree, as this will be its leaves. We want our tree to be laden with leaves, as we show others God's love by His fruit of the spirit: Kindness. We have also created a Take What You Need board! We have put some of Gods words/key quotes to fill your heart and lift your spirit. It is our hope that this will serve as a boost when you may not have the umption to be kind, or when others have been unkind to you. Please leave the cards there so that our project can continue to be a success. If anyone needs ideas on how to be kind... ask one of our team members. So let s go and kill someone with kindness! Toronto Distress Centre Contact Centre Telecare Peel , Languages: English, Punjabi, Hindu, Urdu, Spanish, Portuguese Assaulted Women s Helpline Distress Centre Peel Durham Crisis Line Oakville Distress Centre Gerstein Centre Kids Help Phone Warm Line, Progress Place (every day from 8pm to midnight) DIABETES: What causes diabetes? Pre-diabetes occurs when blood glucose (sugar) levels are higher than normal (7.0 mmol/l or A1C of 6.5% or higher), but is not high enough to be diagnosed as type 2 diabetes. Not enough exercise + diet = diabetes: Sedentary lifestyle or not enough exercise can cause diabetes. You need to work out at least 3 times a week doing cardio (running / walking / climbing stairs) for at least15 minutes a day. Plus, you need resistance training (muscle building exercises) at least 3 times a week. Diet: Have you ever heard the saying, You are what you eat? Well, it is very true. When you eat fried foods, where do you think the grease goes? It does not evaporate into the air. It stores itself to your internal organs. When you eat sugar/salt, it adheres to the fat. It builds in your body instead of secreting through excrements. Fruits and vegetables (particularly leafy greens) are key to staving off diabetes. This is BIG! The Toronto West Music Department is starting an orchestra AND a steel pan ensemble! Candidates for the orchestra must have 2 or more years experience with formal training who can read music. Candidates for the steel pan ensemble are not required to have formal training but must have their own steel pan. We are looking for members AND community members. So tell your friends and your friend's friends to come and sign up after church. Sign up today in the lobby or Charmaine at cdunchie@hotmail.com ATTENTION SENIORS 60+: a). MEN S CORNER Iniquity Within Our Hearts Psalm 66: If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me: 19 But verily God hath heard me; he hath attended to the voice of my prayer. Meditation of the Week: Nothing hinders prayer from being answered like iniquity harboured in the heart. If we harbour iniquity in our heart, the Lord, who hates iniquity, would not regard and answer our prayers. In order that prayers may be heard and answered, we must purpose to forsake sin it is sin that lies at the door and causes us to harbour iniquity. 8
