For girls and young women, that's a challenge these days. Just try shopping for something modest in any clothing mall and you realize what you are up against. Unfortunately, too many parents use this as a cop-out for loosening and lowering their standards of modesty. Besides it s lazy parenting, and the antithesis of grace based leadership. It jeopardizes our children's moral protection at a critical time in their development. Modest clothes are out there if you are willing to look a little harder and shop more shrewdly for them. If all else fails, you may have to get the sewing machine out, or have your daughter wear some sort of undershirt or over shirt to cover the areas exposed by the low-cut top. - Grace Based Parenting, pg 146 PARENT(S) S RESPONSIBILITY: Parent(s), you are responsible for your child(ren) at all times. Candidates for the orchestra must have 2 or more years experience with formal training who can read music. Candidates for the steel pan ensemble are not required to have formal training but must have their own steel pan. We are looking for members AND community members. Our Kindness Campaign is in full swing, and we have created a Kindness Tree that is in need of your kind acts in order for it to bloom. We have left sticky notes, a pen and tacks to use to record your selfless acts, or the kindness that others have shown to you. Please use the supplies to write down the acts of kindness and place them on the tree, as this will be its leaves. We want our tree to be laden with leaves, as we show others God's love by His fruit of the spirit: Kindness. We have also created a Take What You Need board! We have put some of Gods words/key quotes to fill your heart and lift your spirit. If anyone needs ideas on how to be kind... ask one of our team members. So let s go and kill someone with kindness! ADRA THE RATION MEAL CHALLENGE: For one day, we challenge you to eat the same ration bars given to refugees when nothing else is available. Health - National Youth HIV & AIDS Awareness: National Youth HIV & AIDS Awareness highlights the impact of HIV/AIDS on young people and the continuing need for HIV research, education, and resources. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), youth aged 13 to 24 years accounted for more than 1 in 5 new HIV diagnoses in CDC reports that at the end of 2013, an estimated 60,900 youth were living with HIV in the United States. Of these, 51%, or 31,300, were living with undiagnosed HIV the highest rate of undiagnosed HIV in any age group. Youth who have HIV are also the least likely of any age group to be linked to care, and have a suppressed viral load. As our renovation plan proceeds, we are seeking input from passionate, committed, and skilled members willing to help our congregation prepare for the exciting changes ahead. As a member of these committees, you will examine, research, plan, organize, and recommend options for the church to consider and vote on. Committees are: FINANCING - how to acquire the $2 million downpayment and then pay for monthly mortgage payments on the loan. COMMUNITY TASK FORCE - Research Rexdale needs, engage community partners, discover the best projects, discover practices and ideas that fit our skillset, develop an education strategy for our members, and design a community ministry that addresses social needs of our members and non-members. DECORATING - Develop a comprehensive colour scheme, signage, aesthetics, and design features for the entire complex that will guide the architects and interior decorator. LOGISTICS - Develop a plan that guides us through the renovation, addressing matters such as: use of the building during renovations, cost, and location of off-site facilities as needed. 8 ANNOUNCEMENTS The Cassiopeia Pathfinder Club Fundraising: To bring down the cost to go to Oshkosh the club has to fundraise. We need your help to raise funds! Do you have Canadian Tire Money (CTM)? If so, Cassiopeia is collecting Canadian Tire money to use to offset purchases for Oshkosh. Please look around your house or ask your friends to donate their CTM to our club. Register and be a part of the Blessing Box Fund Raising Community Wing Project. Boxes are available. Participants are reminded to bring in this quarter s funds on TODAY. See Sis. Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him, Of all the commandments, which is the most important? 29 The most important one, answered Jesus, is this: Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.
