(Matthew 25:36, 40) PASTORAL BLOG God Rescues His People By Pastor Marvin Clarke Psalm 91:3,4 says, Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the perilous pestilence. He shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler (NKJV). It is comforting to know Toronto West that in spite of our challenges in life, God is there to protect us and rescue us. We experience all sorts of challenges on a day to day basis and it is a blessing that we have heavenly coverage. When we speak the promise from Psalm 91 over our lives, then God goes into action to deliver us from every trap of the devil. He will cover us with His wings like a mother hen covers her chicks when danger is near. He will be our shield from every fiery dart of the enemy. The word deliver in Psalm 91:3 means to snatch away; to pluck up; to escape; or to rescue. We can walk through life oblivious to the calamity that the enemy has planned for us as God snatches us out of every snare. We don t have to fear deadly diseases because the Lord has promised to protect us from every deadly plague. We can be as safe as Daniel in the midst of hungry lions, as long as we consistently confess that the Lord is our refuge and our fortress! He will deliver us! Even though an enemy threatens to use whatever power or influence or action against us, God has promised that no deadly thing will harm us! As Jesus declared in Mark 16:18, They [believers] will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them. Our next responsibility Toronto West is made clear in verse 5: You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, nor of the arrow that flies by day, nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday. Our responsibility is to fear not! That is not a suggestion; it s a divine order. Our confession should be, I will not fear sickness, disease, or plagues. I will not fear destruction or evil. I will not fear for God is present with a Rescue on Its way...

6 HOLY SPIRIT The Spirit Leads Us to Become God s Children For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. Romans 8:14. Christ took His stand among men as the Oracle of God. He spoke as one having authority, addressing Himself in strong terms to the people, and demanding implicit faith and obedience. We as a people have based our faith upon the principles set forth in His Word. We have pledged ourselves to bring heart and mind to obedience to the living Word, and to follow a Thus saith the Lord. All our present and future hopes depend upon our kinship with Christ and with God. The apostle Paul speaks strong words to confirm our faith in this respect. To those who are led by the Spirit of God, in whose hearts the grace of Christ is dwelling, he declares: The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: and if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together (Romans 8:16, 17). Ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father (verse 15). We are called by Christ to come out from the world and to be separate. We are called to live holy lives, having our hearts continually drawn out to God, and having in our lives the Holy Spirit as an abiding presence. Every true believer in Christ will reveal that the grace of His love is in the heart. Where once there was estrangement from God, there will be revealed copartnership with Him; where once the carnal nature was manifest, there will be seen the attributes of the divine. His people are to become workers of righteousness, constant seekers after God, constant workers of His will. This will make them complete in Christ. To angels and to men and to worlds unfallen they are to make it manifest that their lives are conforming to the will of God, that they are loyal adherents to the principles of His kingdom. The Holy Spirit, dwelling in their hearts by faith, will bring them into fellowship with Christ and with one another, and will yield in them the precious fruits of holiness. The Review and Herald, August 19, EVANGELISM EVER-WIDENING INFLUENCE OF THE GOSPEL Belting the Earth Everywhere the light of truth is to shine forth, that hearts now in the sleep of ignorance may be awakened and converted. In all countries and cities the gospel is to be proclaimed... Churches are to be organized and plans laid for work to be done by the members of the newly organized churches. This gospel missionary work is to keep reaching out and annexing new territory, enlarging the cultivated portions of the vineyard. The circle is to extend until it belts the world. Letter 86, North, South, East, and West From town to town, from city to city, from country to country, the warning message is to be proclaimed, not with outward display, but in the power of the Spirit, by men of faith. And it is necessary that the best kind of labor be given. The time has come, the important time, when, through God s messengers, the scroll is being unrolled to the world. The truth comprised in the first, second, and third angels messages must go to every nation, kindred, tongue, and people; it must lighten the darkness of every continent and extend to the islands of the sea... Let there be the wisest planning for the success of the work. Decided efforts should be made to open new fields in the north, the south, the east, and the west... The fact that the presentation of the truth has been so long neglected should appeal to our ministers and workers to enter these fields and not give up the work until they have clearly given the message.
