Ends Sunday morning at 6:00 a.m. The Freedom To Be Different: My boy was asking for my permission to do something to his hair that might cause some adults to assume that he was rebelling. You know the normal assumptions: "He's got a problem with authority." "He must have a chip on his shoulder." "He's one of those shiftless kids who has no direction in his life." Those are the kinds of assumptions that adults --- who should know better --- often place on kids who stand out from the crowd or don't fit the conventional molds. These conclusions are seldom, based on actual knowledge of the child, but rather reflect the limited scope or the utter ignorance of the adult. My son did not have a problem with authority. He was a boy filled with joy, excitement and adventure. He had simply become enamored with this fad. Parents, when hit by a discussion like this, will often say to themselves, " What will my friends think?" Out of fear of what relatives, friends, or those in authority might say, many parents react to their children's tendencies to be different in a way that closes their spirits. When that happens, it can close their spirits for good. Fortunately, we have many grace based friends who see childhood as a time that God has set aside for children to work the "ding-dong " out of themselves. My advice to parents whose friends criticize them for having different kids: Get new friends. It's easier than trying to get new children. Besides, you'll probably be better off. Grace Based Parenting, pg 145 PARENT(S) S RESPONSIBILITY: Parent(s), you are responsible for your child(ren) at all times. A child or children under 14 years MUST BE accompanied by an adult to the restroom, at snack time, and during lunch break. Your child(ren) MUST BE in your company at all times. As a Community Church, Toronto West volunteered to deliver 1,400 of those gifts in Rexdale. Last Sunday we could only deliver 400 of them. The rest are in the church gym and basement. Sadly, if you don't show up on Sunday to deliver the 1,000 gifts, they will be returned This is BIG! The Toronto West Music Department is starting an orchestra AND a steel pan ensemble! Candidates for the orchestra must have 2 or more years experience with formal training who can read music. Candidates for the steel pan ensemble are not required to have formal training but must have their own steel pan. We are looking for members AND community members. So tell your friends and your friend's friends to come and sign up after church. Our Kindness Campaign is in full swing, and we have created a Kindness Tree that is in need of your kind acts in order for it to bloom. We have left sticky notes, a pen and tacks to use to record your selfless acts, or the kindness that others have shown to you. Please use the supplies to write down the acts of kindness and place them on the tree, as this will be its leaves. We want our tree to be laden with leaves, as we show others God's love by His fruit of the spirit: Kindness. We have also created a Take What You Need board! We have put some of Gods words/key quotes to fill your heart and lift your spirit. If anyone needs ideas on how to be kind... ask one of our team members. So let s go and kill someone with kindness! ADRA THE RATION MEAL CHALLENGE: For one day, we challenge you to eat the same ration bars given to refugees when nothing else is available. All parents/guardians who have children attending college/university outside the GTA are asked to submit their names and addresses to the Education Department at education@torontowestsda.org Health: December 1, is AIDS Awareness Day and the awareness continues throughout the month. There are lots of ways to get involved to raise awareness: in schools, colleges, universities, workplaces, or in any other settings. Across the country, the week of November 21 to December 1 marks Canadian HIV/AIDS Awareness Week. It s an occasion to raise awareness surrounding HIV/AIDS issues nationally and culminates in the international observance of World AIDS Day on December 1, of each year a day dedicated to increasing awareness of HIV/AIDS issues worldwide, as well as supporting the UNAIDS visionary goal to end the AIDS epidemic by

As our renovation plan proceeds, we are seeking input from passionate, committed, and skilled members willing to help our congregation prepare for the exciting changes ahead. As a member of these committees, you will examine, research, plan, organize, and recommend options for the church to consider and vote on. Committees are: FINANCING - how to acquire the $2 million downpayment and then pay for monthly mortgage payments on the loan. COMMUNITY TASK FORCE - Research Rexdale needs, engage community partners, discover the best projects, discover practices and ideas that fit our skillset, develop an education strategy for our members, and design a community ministry that addresses social needs of our members and non-members. DECORATING - Develop a comprehensive colour scheme, signage, aesthetics, and design features for the entire complex that will guide the architects and interior decorator. LOGISTICS - Develop a plan that guides us through the renovation, addressing matters such as: use of the building during renovations, cost, and location of off-site facilities as needed. We need your help to raise funds! Do you have Canadian Tire Money (CTM)? If so, Cassiopeia is collecting Canadian Tire money to use to offset purchases for Oshkosh. Please look around your house or ask your friends to donate their CTM to our club. Register and be a part of the Blessing Box Fund Raising Community Wing Project. Boxes are available.
