They're just different. Because their different looks or behavior often annoy or embarrass their parents, it is automatically assumed that whatever they are doing (or want to do) must not be tolerated. This makes it tough for kids hard-wired by God to be a bit different, and limits us in being used as God's instruments of grace. I defend the right of children to be different if for no other reason than the fact that they are children. They are young and their hearts stir with an almost miraculous sense of wonder. Their young minds run wild and sometimes perform crazy gauntlets within their imaginations. God made them this way. Obviously, He calls on parents to help them develop the maturity and skills to take on adulthood, but not at the expense of their unique nuances. Declaring war on his/her differences just because they don't fit our fancy is a good way to snuff out a child's sense of wonder and amazement for a lifetime. We need you to help deliver the gift boxes to 800 homes, starting tomorrow, November 25 at 10:00 a.m. We need 100 volunteers without cars and with cars. Take your children with you so they appreciate what they have when they see how others live. This is our annual Christmas holiday outreach to our neighbours in Rexdale, and part of our mission as a Community Church. See any elder, pastor, pathfinder leader, or call for details. Majestic Choir is appealing for new members to join in their music ministry - especially male members. Rehearsal on Tuesdays at 7:00 p.m. This is BIG! The Toronto West Music Department is starting an orchestra AND a steel pan ensemble! Candidates for the orchestra must have 2 or more years experience with formal training who can read music. Candidates for the steel pan ensemble are not required to have formal training but must have their own steel pan. We are looking for members AND community members. So tell your friends and your friend's friends to come and sign up after church. Our Kindness Campaign is in full swing, and we have created a Kindness Tree that is in need of your kind acts in order for it to bloom. We have left sticky notes, a pen and tacks to use to record your selfless acts, or the kindness that others have shown to you. Please use the supplies to write down the acts of kindness and place them on the tree, as this will be its leaves. We want our tree to be laden with leaves, as we show others God's love by His fruit of the spirit: Kindness. We have also created a Take What You Need board! We have put some of Gods words/key quotes to fill your heart and lift your spirit. If anyone needs ideas on how to be kind... ask one of our team members. So let s go and kill someone with kindness! ADRA THE RATION MEAL CHALLENGE: For one day, we challenge you to eat the same ration bars given to refugees when nothing else is available. We need your help to raise funds! Do you have Canadian Tire Money (CTM)? If so, Cassiopeia is collecting Canadian Tire money to use to offset purchases for Oshkosh. Please look around your house or ask your friends to donate their CTM to our club. Register and be a part of the Blessing Box Project. Boxes are available. The Communications Department will be creating a directory for all business owners in the congregation. MEN S CORNER Iniquity Within Our Hearts Psalm 66: If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me: 19 But verily God hath heard me; he hath attended to the voice of my prayer. Meditation of the Week: Nothing hinders prayer from being answered like iniquity harboured in the heart. If we harbour iniquity in our heart, the Lord, who hates iniquity, would not regard and answer our prayers. In order that prayers may be heard and answered, we must purpose to forsake sin it is sin that lies at the door and causes us to harbour iniquity. 8
