How to Help Children Develop Respect: Teach your children to treat others the way they themselves would like to be treated. The golden rule is the essence of respect. It applies to friends and non-friends, people you love and people you have a hard time with, family members and strangers. It s a simple question for every situation. How would I like to be treated if I were that person? Ask, If other kids were making fun of you how would you like to be treated? (Matthew 25:36, 40) ANNOUNCEMENTS (NLT) Men s Corner Shipwrecked: Cling to your faith in Christ, and keep your conscience clear. For some people have deliberately violated their consciences; as a result, their faith has been shipwrecked 1 Timothy 1:19 When God opens our eyes and we see sin in our lives we face an important decision. We can choose to deal with the sin and clear our conscience or we can choose to follow our own way. Unfortunately, by not clearing our conscience and staying on the wrong path, it takes a terrible toll on our walk with God. The longer you embrace your sin and allow it to flourish, the harder it becomes to turn back. A clear conscience is a beautiful thing, but more so is an intact faith. NUGGET #3 - An Apple A Day You are familiar with the adage, An apple a day keeps the doctor away. But is this true? In June 2012, in an animal study, researchers from the University of Iowa reported that apple peel can prevent mice from becoming obese. In February 2008, scientists from Cornell University found that an apple a day helps protect from dementia. A study published in June 2010 in the American Journal of Alzheimer s Disease and Other Dementias reported that apple juice may help reduce behavioral and psychotic symptoms linked to dementia. A 2008 study conducted at the Universite Montpelier in France, in collaboration with European reseachers, found that apples have similar cardiovascular protective properties as grapes. In May 2008, scientists from the University of Kaiserslautern, Germany, found that apples and apple juice may protect from colon cancer.
