6 ANNOUNCEMENTS Stewardship Feature: I thank God for His bountiful blessings this past year. Today is the last Sabbath of the year and oh, how grateful we aught to be. The New Year looms ahead. We have the opportunity for a fresh start a new chapter in life waiting to be written; new dreams, endless possibilities; wrongs to be made right, decisions to be made. Believe in yourself but above all else believe in the Author and Finisher of our faith. Challenges and difficulties will also come. When they do, know that there is a loving God, the giver of dreams just waiting to be asked to help you make your dreams and the dreams of others come through according to His riches in glory. As we pursue happiness let us keep in mind that happiness cannot be traveled to, owned, earned, worn or consumed. Happiness is the spiritual experience of living every minute with love, grace, and gratitude. Our heavenly father wants us to be happy, prosperous, and healthy. As a matter of fact, man in my opinion cannot live without joy which comes from God. When we are deprived of true spiritual joy we become addicted to carnal pleasures. I pray that as we face the coming year we guard again spiritual degradation and moral decline. Let us put our efforts to godly use. There is no limit to the potential of brethren working together in complete brotherhood and selflessness toward spiritual goals. The power of God working through such channels will bring unimaginable blessings to all concerned. Friday, January 29: 7:00 p.m. 9:00 p.m. and Sunday, January 30: 10:00 a.m. 5:00 p.m. However, the only all-day training will be for the Adventurer and Pathfinder Basic Training. 8 PASTORAL BLOG It is Finished by Ellen G. White Heaven viewed with grief and amazement Christ hanging upon the cross, blood flowing from His wounded temples, and sweat tinged with blood standing upon His brow. From His hands and feet the blood fell, drop by drop, upon the rock drilled for the foot of the cross. The wounds made by the nails gaped as the weight of His body dragged upon His hands. His labored breath grew quick and deep, as His soul panted under the burden of the sins of the world. All heaven was filled with wonder when the prayer of Christ was offered in the midst of His terrible suffering, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. Luke 23:34. Yet there stood men, formed in the image of God, joining to crush out the life of His only-begotten Son. What a sight for the heavenly universe! The principalities and powers of darkness were assembled around the cross, casting the hellish shadow of unbelief into the hearts of men. When the Lord created these beings to stand before His throne, they were beautiful and glorious. Their loveliness and holiness were in accordance with their exalted station. They were enriched with the wisdom of God, and girded with the panoply of heaven. They were Jehovah's ministers. But who could recognize in the fallen angels the glorious seraphim that once ministered in the heavenly courts? Satanic agencies confederated with evil men in leading the people to believe Christ the chief of sinners, and to make Him the object of detestation. Those who mocked Christ as He hung upon the cross were imbued with the spirit of the first great rebel. He filled them with vile. Desire of Ages, p

(Matthew 25:36, 40) ANNOUNCEMENT Preventing Domestic Violence.Our Role, Our Responsibilities as a Church How can I help? (This should be everyone s question) Talk to her about what you see and assure her that you are concerned. Encourage her not to confront her partner if she is planning to leave. Offer to provide childcare while she seeks help. Offer your home as a safe haven to her and the children. Encourage her to pack a small bag with important items and keep it stored at your home. Know that you or she can call the Assaulted Women s Helpline, your local shelter, or, in an emergency, the police. Don t forget to pray, pray, pray for the entire family including the abuser. As a church, as women and men of God, we cannot continue to sit quietly and do nothing for our many, many sisters around the world who are suffering from domestic abuse. Let us join together as we say "No" to violence against women. "No" to abuse of any kind." "No, we will not sit idly by and do nothing." "NO!" We are living in a world where mankind is crying out for someone to lead them to God. He is the only one who can heal their pain. Are you ready? Let us End it Now! 9
