He was a friend for over 48 years. Going through this loss reassures me to celebrate life to the fullest. As we all know the Lord has a plan for all of us. As Sir Knights we need to follow His direction. Remember Father Shawn s talks of Being a Man, we need to live his teachings every day to support our beliefs and our church. Doing this is helping people grow in God, age and mind set. A few key dates this Month is our November 11, Remembrance Day at the Cross of Sacrifice, our General Meeting November 13, at The Diocesan Center, also our Christmas Party at the Lady of Fatima December 14. Faithful Comptroller Nov/Dec 2015 The membership of Assembly 857 currently stands at 192 members. This is comprised of 38 Honorary Life; 2 Honorary; & 4 Disabled members.

We welcome a new member, SK Jerry Babak, into our Assembly, a transfer in from North Bay. Jerry is a member of Gananoque, Council 4177.

Please extend these SK s a hearty welcome. The 2016 membership dues for the 4 th degree, will come due on Jan.1/16. Billing notices will be sent out by Dec.

2 Faithful Comptroller Nov/Dec 2015 The membership of Assembly 857 currently stands at 192 members. This is comprised of 38 Honorary Life; 2 Honorary; & 4 Disabled members. We have 21 Priests & 4 Deacons. We mourn the loss of a member of our 4 th degree Assembly; SK Fr. Georges Savoie, a member of Kingston Mills, Council Keep Father & his family in our prayers. We welcome a new member, SK Jerry Babak, into our Assembly, a transfer in from North Bay. Jerry is a member of Gananoque, Council In November, we will also increase by 1, when SK Bill Burkett, from Orillia, brother-in law of SK Tom Callery, will transfer into Council 9652, & in turn be read into Assembly 857. Please keep me informed of any changes in your personal Contact Info, so our records can be kept current. Also, due to the increase in postal rates, we must try to curb expense where possible. The use of & the internet, if used wisely, is an excellent way of moving information to our members. Those without, will still be informed by regular mail & by voice. If you have any concerns, please contact me. During this autumn & advent season, it is a time to prepare ourselves for winter & Christmas. Soini (allan.soini@gmail.com) ʺ Faithful Admiral Report November/December 2015 Worthy Sir Knights: The fall season is upon us and winter isn t far away. It is not a time to back away from the many activities we take part in during this time of the year. One of those important activities involves recruitment of 3 rd degree members into the 4 th degree. This particular activity can be very rewarding to the recruiter as well as the 3 rd degree Knight being recruited. My responsibilities in regards to Membership also includes recruitment. So I ask all of you to help me on this so that we can add a substantial number of new candidates to our Assembly s roster at Exemplification 2016 on May 28 th. At our last Exemplification in 2011 that we hosted, an additional 15 new members was added to our roster. So I hope to reach that goal this time around. When it comes to local candidates, Sir Knights, and ladies, since we are hosting this Exemplification, the cost of accommodations is eliminated along with excessive transportation expenses. In regards to the candidates being recruited they will require a tuxedo with the tuxedo shirt, bow tie, and cumber bund. Have them contact S/K Peter Scott at or skpetescott.857@gmail.com. He can get them a special reduced price on these items. This will be the dress of the candidates throughout the Exemplification. In addition, each candidate has to be voted on at an Assembly meeting by the members. Before that can happen the Membership form #4 has to be filled out properly and signed off by the Financial Secretary of their Council, the sponsor, the candidate, the Faithful Comptroller and the Faithful Navigator. Note that the membership number of the candidate (same as his 3 rd degree member number) must be included at the top right hand corner of the form. Also included is a cheque made out to Knights of Columbus Assembly 0857 in the amount of $ For the candidate clergy fee, the cost is $ As for the banquet, the fee for it hasn t been determined yet. When that is determined everyone will be contacted. As to regalia, this is not a requirement to become a 4 th degree Sir Knight. If any 4 th degree members wish to be part of our Honour Guard they are required to wear regalia. We do have a small amount of regalia to be given away. It was generously given to us by widows and Sir Knights unable to march in parades anymore. As well as looking after recruitment, I have responsibilities as the Coordinator of Exemplification I m blessed to have 12 Chairmen to help me with this which includes Lady Sally Fink who chairs the Ladies Social Program. Some of these responsibilities include blocking rooms at St. Lawrence College for accommodations, selection of the banquet menus at that location, band and reviewing stand set up for the parade, Meet and Greet facilities, Information and Registration location, production of a bulletin and brochure including the solicitation of businesses to advertise in the brochure, requirements involved in conducting a Mass in St. Mary s Cathedral, and Publicity and pictures. These are just to name a few things that have to be done. So if you have some spare time, I m sure we could use your help. I did pass a volunteer form around at a previous meeting but if you missed it and are still interested, feel free to contact us. Please remember that as well as being a social occasion for the members and ladies of the 1 st Ontario Region, more importantly this is organized for the exemplification of new members into the 4 th Degree. So let s make them feel welcome along with their ladies. Going back to Recruitment, one of the tools in our arsenal is the wearing of regalia at the various Honour Guards that we are asked to perform in. This visibility of our Sir Knights in regalia certainly is very influential in the process of Recruitment. I can t overestimate the value of this when we are trying to recruit new members. So to those able members with regalia who have refrained from attending our parades in the past, please consider doing so. We need your participation. This in turn will help to increase our membership. Vivat Jesus
