This invitation will bring the members up-to-date on the planned activities as well as a Calendar of events for the year. The enclosed planner is subject to change if necessary and will be up dated if there are any changes. May we all have the faith in action; find strength in one another and may we work to be our brother s keepers. In previous years in the September newsletter, it was customary to present the updated Roster. This year we are planning a 4 th Degree Exemplification on November 18 th at St. Patrick church therefore I was asked to delay the Roster until we add the new members coming into our assembly. The updated roster will therefore be presented in our Christmas newsletter instead this year. Brothers, as we see all the negative things which bombarded us on television these days, let us not be caught unaware or fearful, God is in control of everything around us; He has a plan for your life and mind and He will bring it to fruition in our lifetime. My soul magnifies the Lord and my spirit rejoice in His Great Love. May God Bless all of us in this new Columbian Year! FAITHFUL FRIAR S MESSAGE: Brother Knights: We may have asked or wondered how can I offer the other cheek when someone hurts me, or I lend expecting nothing in return, or truly to love my enemies? What a tall order Jesus requests of us. On a wall of the United Nations building there is a stunning mosaic of Norman Rockwell s painting The golden Rule. It depicts people of every race, creed and color with the inscription, Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Whether dealing with my annoying neighbor or considering the plight of Palestinians in the Middle East, Jesus urges me to approach the circumstances with an open mind and heart. To make conscious choice to treat each person the way I want to be treated. When I do, I am following His command. Be merciful just as also your Heavenly Father is merciful. Please offer your support and encouragement to your newly elected officers. As you will also see, we have a 4 th. Degree Exemplification scheduled for November 18, Please come out to support this event and welcome the new members. Remembrance Day Honour Guard will the last time to show our colours, so let s have the biggest turnout. The last few business meetings have been poorly attended. I would really encourage all members, who are able, to attend the business meetings. We need your support, participation and ideas. There are many times when receive requests for a 4 th. Degree Honour Guard. We encourage those who have Regalia to attend where requested. The use of the present Regalia will not be allowed after June 30, So, take these opportunities to show off our colours. Summer is almost over, and I hope you all had time to spend in relaxation with your families and loved ones. Our Memorial Mass is scheduled for November 20, 2018 at St. Anne s Senior Home Chapel at 7:00PM. This a very important Assembly event. To get the fund going, the foundation has requested that each assembly in the district of Saskatchewan work towards raising the sum of $ over the next year. Monies would be forwarded to myself, pooled together and forwarded to the foundation. Please note all cheques should be made out to the Saskatchewan K of C Charitable Foundation. The foundation would commit to aiding one Military seminarian for each of the next 3 years. At the end of the three-year period, the entire vocations fund will be looked at to see what is sustainable. If an individual wishes to donate, they would make the cheque to the Saskatchewan K of C Charitable Foundation and send the cheque to myself. I would then bring the cheque to the charitable foundation and the donor would receive the tax receipt while the 4 th Degree will receive credit for collecting the funds. I encourage all the members of the D Arcy McGee Assembly to get involved and to support your Assembly Officers as they conduct the many fine events and programs which the Fourth Degree has to offer. By working together through the spirit pf cooperation and a common purpose, we can accomplish great things this year not only with our Fourth-Degree programs and events but also with our Saskatchewan State Council goals and programs. May you continue your good work here in Saskatoon and in Saskatchewan to foster the spirit of Charity, Unity, Fraternity and Patriotism. I encourage all of you to promote active Catholic Citizenship among all the Sir Knights in the Simon Fraser Province. Since the Inaugural Fourth Degree in Canada which was held on July 14, 1907 in Montreal, with almost 200 members taking their degree, the Fourth Degree has grown in Canada to more than 400 assemblies with over 33,000 Sir Knights. However, there is plenty of room for growth. As State Deputy of Saskatchewan, I will encourage all Third-Degree members in Saskatchewan to join the Fourth Degree. I thank the Fourth Degree Sir Knights for the Fourth Degree Ceremonial Color Corps that you add to the beauty and dignity of many of our Third-Degree functions. I also thank the Fourth Degree for your conviction as defenders of our Faith and of our Civil Institutions. We pray that Almighty God will continue to bless the Fourth Degree for your good works and that we will continue to grow in numbers in the three Fourth Degree Assemblies in Saskatoon and area.
