It seems like an awful long two months that have passed. As I look around the Hospital where my wife DeLane has called home for the last 4 weeks, I see a lot of people with a Great amount of Faith. It is visible in a lot of different ways. I am reading about those whose Faith has never left them despite the trials and obstacles before them. Faith as defined by Wikipedia is: confidence or trust in a person, thing, deity, or in the doctrines or teachings of a religion or view. It can also be belief that is not based on proof. The word faith is often used as a substitute for hope, trust or belief. I have also heard this lately, How can you have so much Faith when all of this bad stuff is happening. If God is watching over you/me then why are bad things allowed to happen. It s at this time when you feel like your Faith is being tested,that you have to bear down and do what it takes to remain Faithful. Whether that be attending daily Mass instead of once a week, and doubling up on your Prayers, or talking to God and believing that he is near you and hears you. Faith was shown to me by DeLane, who never doubted that God would get her through to the place she needed to be. Not one time has her Faith been in doubt. She continued to have Hope, Trust and Belief. I am happy to report that by the time you read this, she will probably be home, and able to walk with a walker to help steady her. I felt my Faith being tested, but it seems like whenever that happened, one of you, my Brother Sir Knights, would either call or me with words of support and Prayers. Through you and Prayer we remain Faithful. So I say, Keep the Faith! Continued on Page 3

Bishop Vasquez will be present to celebrate this Mass. Parking will be very limited. I attended the installation of officers at St. William Parish in Round Rock, Texas on July 14, There were 7 assemblies in attendance. The event was well attended and the food was great. Our Master Phil Leibowitz was thankful that so many assemblies were able to come together for the installation. I will continue to encourage our Sir Knights to pray for our families, our members and our country. We have a number of members that are in need our prayers. A quote from Mother Teresa, If you want to pray better, you must pray more. Please also remember to check in with our Brother Knights that we have not seen in a while, some may need a ride to our meetings or events. If you are planning to attend the 131st Supreme Convention, I encourage you to fallout at the Tuesday Opening Mass on August 6th, The J.W. Marriott Hill Country Resort and Spa in San Antonio will be the hotel headquarters for the week. I was told there will be 10 Cardinals in attendance and a large number of Bishops and Priests. 3 Page 3 The Sir Knight News Snack Providers Meeting Schedule Aug Sept Oct Nov Dec Jan Feb Mar Apr May Jun Jul 2014 Faithful Navigators Report Continued We have had two events since our last Business Meeting in July. The first event was the Installation of Officers, which was well attended by our Assembly and it s Officers, with just a couple of stand in Officers needed. Despite a record number of Assemblies being installed at the same time, the Master and his Marshall s did a nice job and it went very smoothly. The host Assembly did an excellent job with the meal. It appeared that we had the most Officers and members in attendance. Great job. The second event was the Men s Mass, which was well supported by our Assembly. SK Ed Martin reported on this event, and will report more on this at the Meeting. It is not often that at least one of the Chair Officers or a CCC is not present at the Fallout that our assembly is responsible for, I do not foresee that happening again. Thanks to the SK s who attended the Audit, after going through a few erasers it appears we have a final result, and the Trustees will report on this. We have also transitioned from last years Financial Officers to the new Officers with new Bank Cards signed. Thanks to SK s Eric Stavely and Billy Roberts for working this out. We are back in Business! The only upcoming events scheduled as of now are the Supreme Convention in San Antonio from Aug Also the Red Mass a little further out, on October 3rd at St. Mary s Cathedral with details to be determined. We are still setting up meeting times for the Exemplification planning committee. If you would like to help or chair one of the sub committees now is the time to jump in. So, I will leave you with this small snippet taken from the Supreme website in the section, about the Fourth Degree: Religiously Devoted, Patriotically Proud For most men who follow Jesus, there comes a time when duty extends beyond our own lives, beyond how we lead our families, and into how we serve our fellow man. That s what the Knights of Columbus is all about. The Patriotic Degree allows K of C members to take this one step further. Sir Knight is more than a title it s an honor. 4 Volume 10, Issue 02 Page 4 Passing of SK Bobbie Danz We learned that a member of our Assembly and Past FN of Assembly 1017 passed away. With no notice to the assembly and only finding out about it from the obit on the day of the rosary, we could not provide a fallout. Bobbie was 83 and his wife had passed away many years before. Please stay in contact with our members so we have timely communications with the families. Religious Freedom Under Attack Again San Antonio Looks to Ban Christians from City Government The San Antonio City Council, under the leadership of Mayor Julian Castro, is setting the stage for an unprecedented attack on religious liberty, particularly for Christians. In early August, the Council will consider an ordinance to add sexual orientation and gender identity to the discrimination ordinances in the city code. The proposal would ban anyone that has ever opposed ( demonstrated bias, by word or deed ) homosexuality from being involved in city government and/or performing a city contract/ subcontract. The proposed ordinance provides no exemptions for religious beliefs on homosexuality, even beliefs expressed in Church. This proposed ordinance is filled with serious legal and moral problems. The ordinance directly violates the First Amendment freedom of religion and freedom of speech. Further, the ordinance violates the Texas Religious Freedom Act by infringing on religious liberty while not proving a compelling need for the law and not using the least intrusive way to address the issue, and it also violates the Federal and Texas Constitutions by creating a de facto religious test for involvement in city government. The practical impact of the ordinance would be to severely limit the ability of bible-believing Christians and faith-based businesses to participate in the city government.

It is really very easy and you can order the Knights of Columbus License Plates at anytime, you don t need to wait till your current registration expires. The DMV will adjust registration fees accordingly. The Cost? While the DMV will add $30 a year to your vehicle registration, $22 of that is a tax deductible donation to the Texas State Charities.
