Spence Diocesan Centre. The Faithful Navigator Report Sir Knights: We are starting our new fiscal year, time tends to continue on. When I reflect over the last year I m proud to say, that all the people I ve worked with, are touched by the Lord. Being at a funeral on Saturday maybe realize our purpose. We re helping people grow in God, age and mind set. How great that is, and how Great God is, to bring us together as one, in spreading His word. The peace of this order is with us. All of our Sir Knights have created this peace. I love our dinner meetings they allowed us to grow together. Our next dinner meeting will be in October. If you would like to hoist one, let our Faithful Captain know. As this year unfolds try to bring a friend into our order. Explain to them what we do, we laugh sharing God, as well as sharing our sorrows. Our sports on Saturday s to Ottawa and Toronto are increasing. The increase of new membership is encouraging to see within our order. In closing, I am looking forward to this next coming year as your Navigator. Planning has begun for our Assembly hosting Exemplification Our Budget committee just prepared our Draft Budget for the fraternal year to be discussed and passed during our July/August General Meetings. Our Summer BBQ this year is being hosted by Our Lady of Lourdes Council on Days Rd. Date is August 8th from 2-4 PM. Come and join us. Knights of all degrees & wives are invited as well as our clergy. We have 21 Priests & 4 Deacons. We mourn the loss of a member of our 4 th degree Assembly; Len Charboneau. Len was a member of Gananoque, Council 4177, for 57 years. Keep his family in our prayers. The 9 councils that make up the members of our assembly, is as follows; DISTRICT 20 CO Frontenac - 27; CO Gananoque - 15; CO St. Joseph s - 18; CO Kingston Mills 21. DISTRICT 93 CO Lourdes 14; CO Napanee - 9; CO St. Paul s - 38; CO Amherstview - 20; CO Railton (Note:6 members elsewhere) Please keep me informed of any changes in your personal Contact Info, so our records can be kept current. Also, due to the increase in postal rates, we must try to curb expense when possible. The use of & the internet, if used wisely, is an excellent way of moving information to our members. Those without, will still be informed by regular mail & by voice. If you have any concerns, please contact me. Soini (allan.soini@gmail.com) Your Faithful Admiral Faithful Admiral Assembly Report September 2015 Worthy Sir Knights: Summer vacation is pretty well over so it is time to fully activate our Councils and Assemblies. That is not to say that we haven t been busy over the summer months. There have been various reports that needed to be sent to Supreme and State regarding Offi cers elected as well as the 2014/2015 Audit. The preparation of the 2015/2016 Budget, which is a suggested outline of our expenditures and income revenue, had to be prepared. We have also been meeting over this summer period to plan for Exemplification 2016 which this Assembly is hosting on May 27 th and 28 th. A Committee has been formed to look after various responsibilities required to ensure all aspects are covered prior to those May dates. In fact the main booked site where this Exemplification will be taking place is St. Lawrence College. I, as the coordinator of this Exemplification, am looking for volunteers to assist our Committee members in making this venture successful for our candidates, members and ladies who we are hosting. We have already met with our Master, Norm Fontaine, and he has given us some good ideas that we will try to implement to accomplish our goals. As all of us know, the main reason for a 4 th degree Exemplification is to recruit 3 rd Degree members of Councils into our 4 th Degree Assemblies. This time we have more time for recruiting than we had for the past Cornwall Exemplification. I say ``we`` be- cause all Sir Knights should be attempting to recruit 3 rd Degree Knights into the 4 th Degree. As I have said before, I can`t do this on my own. I need your help. In most cases you have a definite advantage over me. You already know the 3 rd Degree Knights in your Council and you probably have already communicated with them on other topics. In fact I am going to try to get 2 Sir Knights per Council to help me in the recruiting process. Since Exemplification 2016 is being held in Kingston this is an ideal time for local Knights to be exemplified into the 4 th Degree. There is no need for Knights and spouses living here, to pay Hotel, restaurant or other associated expenses like those Knights and spouses coming here from various locations out of town. The main cost to the candidate is the registration fee of $70.00 which includes the initiation fee, a social baldric, and the 4 th degree lapel pin. A form #4 needs to be filled out with the $70.00 cheque made out to the Knights of Columbus Assembly At an Assembly General meeting a vote is taken before the candidate is accepted and registered. For the Exemplification the candidate requires a black tuxedo (single breasted), white tuxedo shirt (turn down collar), black bow tie, black shoes, black socks, and a black cummerbund. Candidates can contact Sir Knight, Peter Scott, at He can save the candidate some money when purchasing these items. Of course the other alternative is to rent a tuxedo. Members of the Armed Forces, full time police, or firefighters will be considered in proper attire when dressed in a Class A dress uniform. Notice that I haven`t mentioned anything about regalia. To be exemplified a candidate does not require regalia. Also he has the option not to join the Honour Guard when regalia must be worn. We do encourage all Sir Knights to be part of the many Honour Guards that we are requested to initiate. I have gathered some regalia that has been passed to me from the widows of deceased Sir Knights. Also some of our members who no longer can parade with us due to ill health have handed in their regalia to me. So this option is available to new members at no charge. The other option is to purchase regalia from Lynch & Kelly in Utica N.Y. tel.( ) or toll free( ). The other source is Roger Sauve in Saint- Hubert, Montreal P.Q.( tel ). As you can see we have lots of work ahead to keep us busy. We are counting on you to help us in any way you can. Your help will be very much appreciated. SEMINARIANS & P.R.: NIL PRO LIFE: NIL, general comment was provided regarding rec ent parade that ended in confronta on. M SHIP: SK Garry Davis introduced the Assembly to SK Stephen Holt. Advised on the selec on of St Lawrence College for the 2016 Exempli ca on in Kingston, 27/28 May 2016 subject to Worthy Master approval. Adam will focus on a bigger recruitment plan for coming year. SPECIAL EVENT: SK Peter Sco : June Blue Jay game 25 people par ci pated. $ net towards Bishop s Cathedral fund. 26th July, O awa Fury soccer match. Bus cancelled but stadium ckets s ll available. Bus sponsorship funds instead used to purchase ckets for Special Olympi ans. 2 people have taken advantage of the Tuxedo o er thus far. O er valid un l 31 Dec. Price of Tuxedos have already increased but KofC price secure. Now have access to Kingston Frontenac game ckets. visit website for details. Diocesan Director invited Peter to use the Diocesan Associa on Newsle er to spread the word. Kingston, ON K7L 4T3 Phone: Nadia Gundert, Youth Ministry Coordinator Dear Grand Knight; September 1, 2015 I am very pleased to announce that the Youth Office is hosting its sixth annual Shine Like the Son Youth Conference. I ask for your continued prayers in the on-going ministry of our Catholic youth in our Archdiocese and for the success of this important youth event in our Archdiocese. The Youth Conference is scheduled for Saturday October 17 th 2015 at Holy Cross C.S.S. in Kingston 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Our theme this year is Fearless We will explore how can youth be fearless in their lives and faith. This day is for youth aged and includes youth in their Confirmation year. There will be praise & worship music, icebreakers, a keynote address, break-out sessions, witness talks, a drama skit, Eucharistic Adoration, Confessions and a Closing Mass. We are extremely excited - our keynote presenter is a Catholic comedian Judy McDondald. Judy is an international speaker and uses her gift of humour to share the faith. The cost is $15 per person which covers youth s lunch, refreshments and a conference T-shirt. Information and registration are available online at our NEW conference website: How can the Knights of Columbus help? Prayers! Please invite youth in your parish and community to attend the event and share the information with them. Word of mouth works best! Sponsor some youth from your parish to attend the event or coordinate transportation for them to be able to attend.
