It was announced during mass that the Knights of Columbus had begun fundraising for this in support of the Church s and Knights of Columbus Right to Life Charity. Then something amazing happened, with the support of Rev. Dennis Cooney, every organized group in St. Raphael Catholic Church wanted to help and did help. The fund raising goal of $20,000 was met by the end of November and the new Ultrasound, monitor and probe were presented to the Fort Myers Community Pregnancy Clinic at 8660 College Parkway Suite 200, Fort Myers FL 33919, phone Bishop Dewane blessed the ultrasound and probe at the dedication ceremony. Grand Knight Doug Blais promised ongoing support from Council Because the Church was so passionate about this opportunity to save the lives of unborn babies, funds above and beyond what was needed were donated. The council voted to create an ongoing fund to support the Right to Life Charities in our communities. Emaus, the Churches Hispanic group, presented the donations given in the Baby Bottle Drive that will go into the Councils Right to Life fund. Upcoming District 59 events and other District events in January and February The State Deputy recently held a Mid-Term meeting in Orlando with DD's from across the State.

He encouraged Council's to seek new members the remainder of the Fraternal Year with a younger Catholic gentlemen in mind.

The State Wide convention is planned for the weekend of May 26 and Council;s need to pick delegates and alternatives to the Convention. The deadline for selecting these delegates is March 01.

The average age of KC membership in the State of Florida is sixty-three years. He encouraged Council's to seek new members the remainder of the Fraternal Year with a younger Catholic gentlemen in mind. There has been some changes in the Formation Degree and Team Councils have been instructed on the changes. The State Wide convention is planned for the weekend of May 26 and Council;s need to pick delegates and alternatives to the Convention. The deadline for selecting these delegates is March 01. The State Deputy is addressing members throughout the State next month. He will address members in the area of Ft Myers on Jan 23 until 9:00 PM at St Raphael's KC Hall. The invitation is for all Knights and thee spouses. It is an open meeting and discussion will be on the subject of the responsibilities of Officers in the Council. 6 Bishop Verot High School Scholarships from the St. Carlos Catholic Education Awareness Fund St. Carlos Knights of Columbus provides an opportunity for all High School students attending Bishop Verot Catholic School to receive a $1000 annual scholarship. All students whose father is a Knight of Columbus or who lives with a grandparent who is a Knight of Columbus going into the 9th, 10th, 11th or 12th grade may apply for this scholarship.
