4 FN Monthly Newsletter June 2017 Sir Knights, I am hoping all is well with you and your family. I have been your Faithful Navigator for 2 years and have many things to be thankful for. The support of my fellow officers who have given me so much support. We have carried on the work of Past Faithful Navigator Lorne and tried to make improvements where needed. We now have a Facebook page, our own web page, we created a HG Calendar, we also post on the bulletin board in Father Ellard Hall and soon in both churches in St Patrick s Parish and we have phone tree to announce upcoming meetings. So communication has been at the forefront throughout my term. I have done what I could and all that has been done would not have happened without the support of St Francis executive officers. It is time for me to step aside and allow others to come forward, you will see new ideas and direction to help our order and Assembly grow, please support them. I bid you farewell as your FN and thank all of you. Membership: We have FIVE candidates for our exemplification June 3 rd 2017 this is with the help of all of you. We have also had one new member transfer, yes St Francis Assembly has grown. We need stay focus as we are a small Assembly very busy and each of you can make the difference by just asking any member of the Knights of Columbus to join the 4 th degree. Membership goes one step further help you re Councils with their membership as that is where we get our new members, as I have always said a good 4 th degree is active with the 3 rd degree. Elections: well the elections are over and we have elected a new slate of officers, we have a new Faithful Navigator Sir Knight Don McDonald has stepped forward and will be your FN for the upcoming fraternal year, I know he will do a great job. I do congratulate Don and the rest of the executive, they deserve your support. Please make a plan to come out to a meeting to see how well they do their duty as of officers of St Francis Assembly Honor Guard Calendar: We continue to struggle with our Honor Guard due to lack of participation. I know everyone is busy however you joined the 4 th degree we are the visible and the Patriotic degree of the Knights of

5 Columbus. As members you need to have a black tux, bow tie, cummerbund, white pleaded shirt lay down collar, black braces, black shoes and socks and social baldric all part of official uniform often called the social uniform, please also consider joining a HG as that is all you need to take part of any HG. Yes you can go one step further and buy sword cape and chapeau we need you. Please help us to be visible. I am hoping to see you at our meeting June please come and celebrate with us in prayer and in ceremonial. Your input is always welcomed. 6 confirmation celebrated by Bishop Kirkpatrick arrival time 3:30 pm starts at 4 pm HG SIR Knights join in the Rosary Sunday, September 10, 2017 at 2:30 pm, Honor Guard should be dressed in full Regalia or official uniform and ready at no later than 2pm we line up above the Papal alter Midland Ontario, please note that we are requested to be there, Bring your family so we can pray as a family should. There is also a noon for those wanting to participate in an Honour guard to be there by 11:00 am HG November 11 th 2017 Remembrance Day Parade please mark your calendar, this is our Patriotic duty to participate in this event please arrive Father Ellard Hall no later than 10 am quick review and we need to be on Parade by 10:30 am We will have Honor Guard practice starting at 7 pm each night prior to our general meeting.

11 POPE FRANCIS "I have great love for Saint Joseph, because he is a man of silence and strength. On my table I have an image of Saint Joseph sleeping. Even when he is asleep, he is taking care of the Church!

14 Fourth Degree Emblem Bearers of this emblem are committed to conduct themselves honorably as Christian gentlemen in their private and public lives, as well as acting patriotically for the good of their nations. The Fourth Degree sword represents the bearer s reverence for the Eucharist and the Pope, bishops and hierarchy of the Church, and displays publicly his willingness to protect his Church and Priests. Considered under a religious aspect, we have the honor and privilege of wearing on our swords and our lapels the sacred symbol of the Most Blessed Trinity. This should always remind us to live a good Christian life, and that we should never bring dishonor on the emblem we have been privileged to wear. By this, others may see our good works, through which we will glorify our Holy Religion, our Honored Order and our Beloved Country.
